Boeing displays MAX momentum at record Paris Air Show

Airplane and services orders underscore market strength; Data analytics, technology, product innovations highlighted.

LE BOURGET, FRANCE – Boeing strengthened its market position with important announcements and multi-billion dollar orders and commitments for commercial airplanes and commercial and defense services at the 2017 Paris Air Show.

The company launched the 737 MAX 10, the newest member of the 737 MAX family, with more than 361 orders and commitments from 16 customers worldwide. This wide market acceptance endorsed the 737 MAX 10 as the industry's most efficient and profitable single-aisle airplane.

Commercial customers announced incremental orders and commitments during the week for a total of 571 Boeing airplanes, valued at $74.8 billion at list prices.

Boeing revealed its 2017 Current Market Outlook, raising its 20-year outlook to more than 41,000 new airplanes, valued at $6.1 trillion. Boeing also forecasts significant growth in the Aerospace Services Market, projecting $2.6 trillion demand in commercial and government services for the next 10 years.

Boeing confirmed its new Global Services business remains on track to be up and running next month. Standing up a global services business will sharpen the company's focus and accelerate its capabilities expansion.

Boeing Global Services announced multi-year services agreements valued at up to $6 billion during the show. The announcements included:

Commercial Services: UPS ordered three 767 Boeing Converted Freighters; Monarch selected Boeing's Global Fleet Care (formerly GoldCare) and flight training services for its entire 737 MAX fleet; and Norwegian selected Boeing to provide all its flight training requirements across its Boeing fleet.

Government Services: Rolls-Royce reached a parts and sales distribution agreement with Aviall for support of its global fleet of AE defense engines; the Indian Navy chose Boeing to support its fleet of P-8I maritime patrol aircraft; and the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency signed a contract with Boeing to support its F-15 fleet.

Airplane Development Vice President Michael Delaney laid out the deliberate, disciplined and driven approach Boeing Commercial Airplanes is following with execution on the MAX, 787-10 and 777X development programs and the study of how to optimally address the middle of the market in the next decade. Looking further into the future Product Development Vice President Mike Sinnett explored the possibilities for advancing autonomous technology to help enhance safety, decision-making and traffic management in the face of continued projected growth in air transportation.

Boeing also announced the launch of Boeing AnalytX, which has brought together more than 800 analytics experts from across the company focused on transforming data into actionable insights and customer solutions. Five customer agreements were announced to provide solutions powered by Boeing AnalytX.

The Boeing 737 MAX 9 starred in the daily flying display while the 787-10 Dreamliner, P-8A, V-22, AH-64 Apache and CH-47 Chinook were featured in the static display.

Boeing, Air Lease Corporation Announce Memorandum of Understanding for 12 737 MAXs
Boeing and Air Lease Corporation announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for 12 737 MAXs at the Paris Air Show. The MOU includes five 737 MAX 7s and seven 737 MAX 8s. The agreement will be reflected on the Boeing Orders and Deliveries website once finalized.

"With these additional 12 units, ALC's growing 737 MAX order book now stands at 130 aircraft – and we are placing them rapidly," said John L. Plueger, Chief Executive Officer and President, Air Lease Corporation. "Clearly the 737 MAX family is a winner for us and for our airline customers."

ALC was one of the first leasing companies to order the 737 MAX.

"ALC has been a strong supporter of the 737 MAX family since the very beginning," said Ihssane Mounir, senior vice president, Global Sales and Marketing, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "The 737 MAX 7 will give ALC's customers the best airplane in that segment, built for long, thin and high-hot routes. The 737 MAX 8 will give them a wide advantage over the competition in the middle of the market."

The 737 MAX is the fastest selling airplane in Boeing history. The MAX family incorporates the latest technology CFM International LEAP-1B engines, Advanced Technology winglets and other improvements to deliver the highest efficiency, reliability and passenger comfort in the single-aisle market.

Boeing, Copa Airlines Announce Selection of 15 737 MAX 10s
Boeing and Copa Airlines announced an order for 15 737 MAX 10s at the 2017 Paris Airshow. With this announcement, Copa is one of the launch customers for the 737 MAX 10 airplane and will be the first airline in Latin America to operate the newest addition to the 737 MAX family.

Today's order is a conversion from a previous order of 737 MAX aircraft.

"Due to the long-term success we've had operating the Next-Generation 737, we had placed a sizable order of 737 MAX aircraft for our future, and the 737 MAX 10 provides additional flexibility for certain segments of our network," said Ahmad Zamany, Copa Airlines Vice President of Technical Operations.

Copa Airlines will use the airplanes to replace existing airplanes and support the carrier's plans for strategic growth. Copa will be the first airline in the region to operate the 737 MAX on deep South American and North American routes. The 737 MAX 10's operating economics and passenger comfort are ideally suited to Copa's route network.

Boeing, Mauritania Airlines Announce Order for One 737 MAX 8
Boeing and Mauritania Airlines announced an order for one 737 MAX 8 airplane at the 2017 Paris Air Show. The order, valued at $112.4 million at list prices, was previously attributed to an unidentified customer on the Boeing Orders & Deliveries website.

"The 737 MAX will complement our growing fleet and is the perfect aircraft for short to medium-haul operations across the Sahel region and Europe, feeding traffic into our hub airport at Nouakchott," said Mohamed Radhi Bennahi, chief executive officer, Mauritania Airlines. "This aircraft will play a major role in growing our business in the years to come."

The 737 MAX incorporates the latest technology CFM International LEAP-1B engines, Advanced Technology winglets, Boeing Sky Interior, large flight deck displays, and other improvements to deliver the highest efficiency, reliability and passenger comfort in the single-aisle market.

"This order is yet another endorsement for the 737 MAX from one of our African customers," said Van Rex Gallard, vice president of Sales for Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "We look forward to delivering this first 737 MAX to Mauritania later this year."

Based in Mauritania's capital city Nouakchott, at Nouakchott-Oumtounsy International Airport, Mauritania Airlines was founded in 2010 and currently serves more than 10 destinations across Africa and Europe. The Mauritanian flag-carrier currently operates a fleet which includes one Next-Generation 737-800, one Next Generation 737-700 and two 737-500s.

Boeing, EL AL Israel Airlines Finalize Order for Three Additional 787 Dreamliners
Boeing and EL AL Israel Airlines finalized an order for three 787 Dreamliners at the 2017 Paris Air Show, firming up additional commitments originally announced in 2015.

Valued at more than $729 million at current list prices, the order includes two 787-8s and one 787-9. EL AL now has six unfilled orders for 787s, with lease agreements in place for a further seven Dreamliners.

"Firming up these three 787 Dreamliners that were part of the 787 deal announced in 2015 is an important step in the continuity of our relationship between EL AL and Boeing," said David Maimon, president and chief executive officer, EL AL Israel Airlines. "The Dreamliner is the most innovative and efficient aircraft ever built and will take EL AL to a new era, providing our passengers with an unparalleled flight experience."

The 787 is a family of technologically advanced, super-efficient airplanes with new passenger-pleasing features. In addition to bringing big-jet ranges to midsize airplanes, the 787 will provide EL AL with unmatched fuel efficiency and environmental performance, using 20 percent less fuel and with 20 percent fewer emissions than the airplanes it replaces.

EL AL has been an all-Boeing carrier since taking delivery of its first new Boeing airplane in 1961 and currently operates a fleet of more than 40 airplanes including Next-Generation 737s, 747s, 767s and 777s. The Tel Aviv based carrier is set to take delivery of its first 787-9 later this summer.
