Budapest Airport adds Air Canada brand to its portfolio

Budapest Airport officially welcomes Air Canada Rouge’s new link to Toronto Pearson, which began on 11 June. Cutting the ribbon that celebrated the key development are: Jost Lammers, CEO, Budapest Airport; Ambassador Helfand of Canada to Hungary, Slovenia and Bosnia & Herzegovina; Peter Szijjarto, Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Vijay Bathija, Vice President Commercial, Air Canada Leisure Group.

Complementing Air Transat’s existing service to Toronto and Montreal, the carrier’s arrival in the Canadian market gives Air Canada Rouge an immediate 71% share of Budapest’s weekly seats to Canada’s largest city.

Budapest Airport celebrated a key development, welcoming new airline partner Air Canada Rouge into its portfolio. Following the launch of its thrice-weekly service to Toronto Pearson, on 11 June 2016, the leisure carrier significantly boosts the Hungarian gateway’s connections to Canada.

Complementing Air Transat’s existing service to Toronto and Montreal, the carrier’s arrival in the Canadian market gives Air Canada Rouge an immediate 71% share of Budapest’s weekly seats to Canada’s largest city. With 53,000 Hungarian’s living in Toronto, and almost 100,000 indirect traffic between Canada and Budapest in 2015, latest records indicate high demand for the direct flight.

At the celebrations of Air Canada Rouge’s new service, Jost Lammers, CEO, Budapest Airport commented: “We are pleased to welcome this Air Canada Rouge flight from Toronto to Budapest, this link will provide a further boost to the development of tourism and Hungarian-Canadian economic relations. We have no doubt this new service answers a strong market demand, as it offers a broad choice of connections in Air Canada’s extensive network for Hungarian passengers.”
