Budapest Airport has confirmed Ryanair’s third new route for S19 as the ULCC adds twice-weekly services to Bari and Cagliari – the Hungarian gateway’s first link to the Italian island of Sardinia.
While the ULCC will join Wizz Air in offering direct services to Bari, the port city on the Adriatic Sea, the airline’s link to Cagliari will become Budapest’s first connection to the capital city of the Italian island, Sardinia.
Budapest Airport’s blistering S18 route network growth looks set to continue into 2019 as the Hungarian gateway announces a further two new routes with Ryanair. Leading the way at the start of S19, the ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) will launch new links to Bari and Cagliari, both with a twice-weekly service set to commence in April 2019. Using its 189-seat 737-800s on both routes, Ryanair will add close to 23,000 more seats during the summer season, further expanding its services from the Hungarian capital city airport.
While the ULCC will join Wizz Air in offering direct services to Bari, the port city on the Adriatic Sea, the airline’s link to Cagliari will become Budapest’s first connection to the capital city of the Italian island, Sardinia. Ryanair’s continued growth at Budapest will see the airline serve eight Italian destinations as of next year as the new services join established links to Naples, Milan Bergamo, Palermo, Pisa, Rome Ciampino and Treviso.
Offering more than 720,000 seats to the South European country this year, the addition of Ryanair’s latest destinations will further establish Italy’s position as Budapest’s third-largest country market served. As the airport’s Italian links are boosted to 13 destinations, the ULCC has also confirmed its service to Rome Ciampino will increase from seven to nine times weekly as part of the carrier’s S19 schedule.
