Buenos Aires travel guide: Best things to do

Walk the streets of San Telmo
One of the most impressive things about Buenos Aires is the architecture and the color of the buildings. There are lots of great cafes and boutique shops in San Telmo, as well as the regular Sunday fair.

Explore The National Museum of Decorative Art
The National Museum of Decorative Art opened in 1911. The building itself is a sight to beyond and any lover of architecture will be impressed by it. The collection inside the museum has some of the best examples of impressionist and renaissance art you’ll find anywhere in the world, so it’s definitely worth exploring.

Tour the President’s Casa Rosada
Casa Rosada, meaning Pink House, is where the President of Argentina lives. It’s a beautiful building and, even better, you can tour the building if you want to as well. There’s also a museum inside the building that includes a lot of items in its collection from the country’s colonial period. It’s definitely worth a visit.

Attend an Opera or Ballet performance
There are lots of stunning theatres and performance halls in Buenos Aires, and you owe it to yourself to attend an opera or ballet performance at at least one of them. It’s the kind of experience that you’ll remember for a long time to come, so add it to your plans if you haven’t done so already.

Visit La Boca and the Caminito Street Museum
One of the most interesting places in all of Buenos Aires is the open air museum of Caminito Street. It’s full of street art and color, and it’s a completely pedestrian-friendly street. There’s nothing better than strolling through the street and the other areas of La Boca and seeing the art and absorbing the bohemian atmosphere of the area.

Admire The Metropolitan Cathedral
The Metropolitan Cathedral of Buenos Aires is actually one of the oldest churches in the country. The neoclassical style is a sight to behold and the interiors are simply majestic. The cathedral also overlooks Plaza de Mayo and some of the best hotels in Buenos Aires are also found in this part of the city.
