Among countries with the highest numbers of participants are the USA, India and Russia, over and above the European markets, such as Germany, Netherlands and the UK. China in particular stands out – also an Honoured Guest Country at Bit 2013 – whose buyers are up by 366% this year.
MILAN – Welcome to the countdown as it happens, to Bit – Borsa Internazionale del Turismo at fieramilano, Rho from Thursday 14th – Sunday 17th February 2013, further defining its role as an industry international hub.

In particular, interest is growing day by day in Bit BuyItaly, the most important workshop for made-in-Italy tourism, which will permit the meeting of over 2,000 selected sellers of Italian products with top international high profile buyers, coming from over 60 countries.

“The quality of the contacts is the number one priority regards the Bit fair concept", comments Marco Serioli, Exhibitions Director for Fiera Milano, "and the workshops are the time and place when this focus is at its height. We carefully select buyers according to their buying likelihood and power, guaranteeing new introductions with a high probability of making a real deal, and increasing registrations simply confirm this fact.”

As of the 30th November there are already over 320 registered buyers, up 35% on the same period last year. Among countries with the highest numbers of participants are the USA, India and Russia, over and above the European markets, such as Germany, Netherlands and the UK. China in particular stands out – also an Honoured Guest Country at Bit 2013 – whose buyers are up by 366% this year.

There are lots of exciting new things happening this year. Bit BuyItaly will be held from Thursday 14th – Saturday 16th February in a special section within the Italy area, which hosts all Italian destinations, to increase business opportunities, facilitating the presence of buyers to the stands.

There is also increased focus on thematic tourism, with the three days dedicated to various themes: leisure, culture/food&wine, luxury, MICE/business travel. Day one is specifically for pre-scheduled appointments at the stands (only for stands with an area over 200m2) whilst in the workshop area there will be a space specially for OLTA (On The Travel Agencies).

Big news for the sellers; purchase is no longer tied to participation as a co-exhibitor at the fair.

The growth rate during November consolidates the trend started at Bit BuyItaly 2012, where 43% of buyers were new to the fair. Last year over 18,000 appointments were conducted and 75% of sellers who took part declared  that they closed at least one deal during a workshop.
