Cashback site prepared to pass £1 million back to Britons as busiest week for holiday bookings begins

Analysing consumer trends data, number crunchers at the UK’s leading cashback site Quidco have seen volume of travel bookings made in the first working week of January 22-24% higher than the average week in each of the last three years.

The first week of January is statistically the busiest time of year for Britons booking holidays – and this year they could bag £1million cashback on their bookings during this week alone (January 02 to January 08).

Analysing consumer trends data, number crunchers at the UK’s leading cashback site Quidco have seen volume of travel bookings made in the first working week of January 22-24% higher than the average week in each of the last three years.

And with year-on-year rises of 12-18% in travel bookings in the corresponding weeks of 2014, 2015 and 2016, Quidco says it expects its members to bag around £1million in cashback rewards from travel transactions made through their site during this week – making it a record week for cashback on travel bookings.

Quidco spokesperson Cathal Wogan said: “Going back to work after the festive period amid the usual general January dreariness means that a lot of us need to get something on the calendar to look forward to.

“That’s one of the main reasons that the first week of January is so busy for travel bookings, and this year we expect that to grow. Last year Quidco members earned nearly £750,000 in cashback on their travel bookings in the first week of January alone – and we’re hoping to break the £1million mark this year.”

January is a key trading period for travel providers as they seek to start the New Year with lots of bookings. That means great deals are available for savvy planners looking for value, whether booking a summer sun holiday or business travel for the year.

And even when taking advantage of a great-value travel offer, things become even better for travellers when they can get a cashback deal by booking with their favourite provider through Quidco.

Quidco’s Cathal explains: “We want everyone to have something to look forward to this year so if any of our members happen to stumble upon a better cashback rate on their trip after they’ve booked through us, we’ll double the difference. That’s our guarantee.”
