CellPoint Mobile extends its mobile commerce solutions to serve the ground transportation and hospitality industries

During the first phases of its expansion, CellPoint Mobile will target rail, bus, passenger ferry, cruise, car-rental, taxi, and parking operators, as well as hospitality companies that include hotels, resorts and entertainment venues.

MIAMI – CellPoint Mobile, a leading provider of sales and payment-side technology solutions for the worldwide travel sector, is expanding its presence in the ground transportation and hospitality industries.

As a result of the company's ongoing success in implementing mobile booking and payment technologies with airlines across the globe, as well as a decade of providing solutions to European rail operators, the company is well-positioned to expand its footprint across the broader passenger transport and hospitality sectors.

CellPoint Mobile provides mobile-first technology that can fully service both the sell side and the payment side of the digital travel channel in a way that enables travel merchants to keep up with the pace of digital innovation and maximize revenue opportunities from their mobile-first customers. Companies across all travel categories that deploy CellPoint Mobile solutions can quickly reduce transactional friction for their passengers, increase mobile look-to-book ratios, and boost incremental revenues throughout the passenger's entire trip.

During the first phases of its expansion, CellPoint Mobile will target rail, bus, passenger ferry, cruise, car-rental, taxi, and parking operators, as well as hospitality companies that include hotels, resorts and entertainment venues. The company's ground transportation and hospitality operations now include the UK, Germany and Scandinavian countries, and will extend to U.S. and Canadian ground and hospitality operators in 2018.

"Companies across all travel categories must meet consumers' rising expectations for booking and payment solutions that are built specifically for the mobile environment, instead of merely adapting to it," said Kristian Gjerding, CEO of CellPoint Mobile. "Whether travelers are booking a flight, boarding a train or checking into a hotel, they expect their search, booking, payment, and communications experiences to be seamless, quick and supported on their mobile devices."

Global Growth of Digital Activity Spurs Demand for Mobile Travel Solutions
Travelers' mobile behaviors and new travel technologies are a driving force behind CellPoint Mobile's strategy. New comScore data, for example, finds that that 60% of digital activities now come from consumers' mobile devices vs. 40% from desktops. At the same time, the growth and revenue potential of global digital travel sales is estimated to reach $613 billion (USD) by the end of 2017, and $855 billion (USD) by 2021, according to eMarketer.

CellPoint Mobile's Velocity payment platform enables travel merchants to reduce time to market with new payment methods and digital wallets, quickly expand their acquirer network, and increase conversions. The merchant-side payment platform provides everything a travel merchant needs to control its payments environment, with features including pay by link, stored payments, advanced fraud and transaction monitoring, and more. Transportation providers and hospitality clients can rely on it to support a variety of popular mobile payment methods, including Apple Pay, Android Pay, PayPal, Visa Checkout, Masterpass and others, without lengthy integration or costly technical outlays.

The company's travel booking engine, Voyage, enables travel merchants to increase revenues in both mobile and online channels through out-of-the-box integrations with existing systems to offer booking, ancillary purchases, booking management and check-in functionality, while also integrating seamlessly with the Velocity payment platform.

Jesper Tristan Harrishoj, Senior Vice President and Head of Sales/Global Ground Transportation for CellPoint Mobile, offers this outlook: "Our goal is to offer seamless, built-for-mobile commerce booking and payment solutions to companies across the ground transportation and broader travel industry so they can capture critical new revenue streams from the increasingly essential mobile channel."
