Cobalt Air accelerates growth plan by choosing Sabre technology

Cobalt Air makes the Sabre travel marketplace its first and only B2B e-commerce platform.

LARNACA, CYPRUS and LONDON, UK – Cyprus’ airline, Cobalt Air, is embarking on a new phase of expansion, creating additional revenue streams and serving a broader customer base. Through an exclusive distribution agreement with global travel technology leader Sabre Corporation, the airline now markets its fares to thousands of travel agencies.

Using Sabre, the airline has access to new technology that will be critical to improving how it markets and sells its fares, automates commercial processes, and manages electronic ticketing across sales channels. Sabre-connected travel agencies in Cyprus and Greece will have the ability to sell Cobalt Air tickets to travellers through the Sabre travel marketplace. Millions of online shoppers searching on multiple online travel sites supported by Sabre will also, for the first time, be able to compare and purchase Cobalt Air fares.

“Cobalt is a fast-growing airline that is aiming to expand revenue opportunities and enhance customer service,” said Andreas Syrigos, regional director of Sabre for Cyprus and Greece. “By making its fares available through our leading booking platform, the airline has access to our broad travel agency community.  The airline will also be able to rapidly transform its commercial operations by leveraging our latest air commerce capabilities,” he added.

Cyprus is an exciting country for aviation, experiencing a 15 percent year-over-year growth in demand for travel, and Cobalt Air welcomes around 1 million travellers each year.

“This agreement with Sabre will help us explore new channels and work strategically with travel agencies to offer our fares to millions of travellers,” said Andrew Madar, CEO at Cobalt Air. “The real-time connectivity to agency and corporate subscribers to Sabre, combined with capabilities for instant booking confirmation and ticket changes, will drive our commercial transformation and contribute to the growth of tourism in Cyprus while broadening the horizon for local travellers”.

With this agreement, Cobalt Air joins more than 400 regional and global carriers that leverage Sabre technology to market and sell airfares and ancillaries. Cobalt Air serves 21 destinations across 12 countries, and Sabre travel agency customers in Cyprus and Greece are now in a unique position to take advantage of this distribution agreement to increase their workflow and to meet their travellers’ needs.
