Sleeping comfortably is necessary for our health. It includes not only the bedroom stuff like cozy bedding of Bamboo Sheets and soft, warm blankets, but we must consider the environment in which we live. It is believed that white noise helps adults and children sleep peacefully and successfully study and work without being distracted by sounds common to any metropolis.

Sounds great. But is the reputation of white noise white? We'll figure it out.

White noise: what is it
In simple terms, white noise is a series of sounds of medium, high and low frequencies that are played randomly and have equal intensity. White noise absorbs and muffles sounds that are unpleasant and even dangerous for human hearing and the brain – and this is undoubtedly a plus for residents of large cities. The following is known about the benefits of such background sounds.

White noise helps you fall asleep and improves the quality of your sleep
A scientific study showed that the use of white noise increased the sleep duration of patients in coronary care units by almost two hours (and the value of these two hours for recovery is of great importance). White noise machine also helps those who suffer from anxiety disorders and related difficulties with falling asleep.

Acts as a pain reliever
Some doctors recommend using white noise for people suffering from migraine and tinnitus – this is the name of tinnitus, which happens, for example, with hypertension. White noise helps to alleviate the painful condition.

Helps to concentrate
If you work in a very noisy environment – in a workshop or a large office space, next to a construction site, and so on, white noise will certainly help you focus. It promotes concentration during yoga and meditation. White noise easily masks the cacophony outside the windows and helps concentrate on inner sensations.

Calms babies and helps them fall asleep
A fairly simple explanation for this effect: the womb is by no means a quiet place. Developing, the child constantly hears the beating of the mother's heart, the flow of blood through her vessels, the rumbling of the stomach and intestines, and the noises of the outside world muffled and distorted by the amniotic fluid.

So, white noise returns the baby to a blissful intrauterine period. The child relaxes, falls asleep soundly, and does not react to conversations, creaking doors, steps, barking dogs from the street, and so on.

But remember, excessive use of everything can cause bad impacts!

White noise machines are not for everyone
Some people are not relaxed by white noise and who are not helped to sleep, and there are quite a few of them. Such is the individual characteristics of their nervous system.

Likely to impair hearing
Science Alert reports that prolonged exposure to white noise can lead to overload and restructuring of the central part of the auditory system and eventually threatens to result in the pathology of the hearing and speech apparatus.

White noise is addictive
Some experts believe that fascination with supposedly useful noises can turn into an addiction, finally burying the ability to fall asleep without a sound “crutch,” and can also lead to sleep disruption and wakefulness.
