Cork Airport welcomes new Malta route

Malta is the latest route to be added to Cork Airport’s flight schedule of over 40 destinations.

Cork Airport welcomes the announcement from Ryanair that the airline is to commence a new Cork route to Malta in March 2019. The service to the island country, which lies south of Sicily in the Mediterranean Sea, will operate twice weekly as part of Ryanair’s Summer 2019 schedule.

Welcoming the new route, Cork Airport Managing Director, Niall MacCarthy said: “We are thrilled to see our partners Ryanair add Malta as the latest new destination to their extensive route network from Cork.

“Malta is a fantastic destination, famous for its beautiful coastline, amazing heritage sites, and the capital city Valetta is a real gem. We see Malta as a strong, safe outbound destination which combines food, sun and amazing sights.

“This is the fourth Ryanair route announcement in as many weeks at Cork Airport following the recent good news that London Luton and Faro will operate from October, while a new service to Poznan, Poland will commence in March 2019.”

Malta is the latest route to be added to Cork Airport’s flight schedule of over 40 destinations. A forecasted 2.4 million passengers will travel through Cork Airport this year, a 4% increase on 2017 and further growth planned in 2019. This cements Cork as Munster’s busiest, and best-connected international airport, and the State’s second largest airport.

On yesterday’s announcement, Ryanair’s Robin Kiely said: “Ryanair is pleased to announce a new Cork route to Malta, commencing in March 2019, which will operate twice weekly as part of our Summer 2019 schedule.”

Ryanair’s low fares comes to Exeter
Ryanair also announced its first ever flights from Exeter, its newest airport, with 3 new routes to Malaga, Malta and Naples commencing in April, as part of its summer 2019 schedule.

Ryanair’s Summer 2019 Exeter schedule will deliver:

  • 3 new routes: Malaga, Malta & Naples
  • 6 weekly flights
  • 80,000 customers p.a.

Exeter consumers and visitors can now book their holidays for summer 2019 on the lowest fares.

Ryanair’s Robin Kiely said: “We’re pleased to announce Ryanair’s low fares have arrived at Exeter, our newest airport and 21st in the UK. Our three new routes to Malaga, Malta and Naples start in summer 2019, each operating twice weekly, ensuring customers in the Devon region can book low fare flights to the sun.

To celebrate, we are releasing seats for sale on these new routes from just £34.99 for travel in April, which are available for booking until midnight Thursday (13 Sep). Since these amazing low fares will be snapped up quickly, customers should log onto ryanair.com and avoid missing out.”

Exeter Airport MD, Matt Roach said: “This is a significant vote of confidence in the continued growth of Exeter Airport and we are delighted to be welcoming Ryanair for the very first time. These routes are popular destinations and offer customers even more choice and greater connectivity from their local airport.”
