Cornwall Airport Newquay optimises transatlantic connections with Aer Lingus Regional

The new timings are set to begin from 27 March 2017, with passengers able to fly from Cornwall to North America, via Dublin, with connections now made possible to globally-important destinations such as New York, Boston, Chicago and Hartford.

Cornwall Airport Newquay has announced Aer Lingus Regional will operate a new flying schedule for S17, allowing for improved connections to the Irish flag carrier’s second daily wave of transatlantic flights from Dublin. The new timings are set to begin from 27 March 2017, with passengers able to fly from Cornwall to North America, via Dublin, with connections now made possible to globally-important destinations such as New York, Boston, Chicago and Hartford. In addition, passengers will be able to complete US Immigration pre-clearance in Dublin before boarding connecting flights, saving time and hassle when arriving stateside.

Aer Lingus Regional’s rescheduling of its operations marks the second successive year of the carrier’s development at Cornwall Airport Newquay since the route launched in 2015. From March next year, the majority of weekly flights (Mondays to Saturdays) will arrive in Dublin at 12:00 and passengers will benefit from improved connections to: Hartford (14:40 departure); Chicago O’Hare (15:50 departure); New York JFK (16:10 departure); Boston (16:20 departure); and from January: Toronto Pearson (13:35 departure). While the S17 schedule will commence at five times weekly, by the end of April next year the Dublin service will have increased to a daily service.

Commenting on the latest airline announcement, Al Titterington, Managing Director, Cornwall Airport Newquay said: “The progress made over the last 12 months of Aer Lingus Regional’s Dublin service has been fantastic, with robust load factors on the route. However, with improved access to the mainline carrier’s North American connections we expect loads to climb even further in 2017. Expanding our route network through cost effective, indirect routes further enhances the destination options available to those wishing to fly from Cornwall. The new route schedule also increases the number of overseas markets that can reach us with ease, helping to further support the tourism sector and economy of Cornwall.”

Martin Saxton, CCO, Stobart Air (operator of Aer Lingus Regional) added: “We’re pleased to be able to connect our Cornwall-based customers to Aer Lingus’ mainline transatlantic services via Dublin. With four flights weekly between Cornwall and Dublin currently, and up to seven flights weekly during the peak season, Aer Lingus Regional passengers can now complete pre-clearance in Dublin before flying to US and Canadian cities such as New York, Boston, Chicago and Toronto. This service is designed to save time and hassle for Cornwall passengers on their transatlantic travel, offering them an affordable, time efficient and convenient route to the US and Canada, be that for business or pleasure.”

From 27 March 2017, Aer Lingus Regional will offer an improved timetable from Cornwall Airport Newquay allowing passengers to access transatlantic destinations such as New York, Boston, Chicago and Toronto, as well as completing US Immigration pre-clearance in Dublin. Al Titterington, Managing Director, Cornwall Airport Newquay said: “Expanding our route network through cost effective, indirect routes further enhances the destination options available to those wishing to fly from Cornwall.”

Celebrating the news with Aer Lingus Regional crew are: Cornwall Airport Newquay’s Amy Smith, Marketing and Communications Manager; and Richard Thomasson, Operations Manager.
