Crete favorite for summer 2020 by Dutch

The measures to prevent the spread of the Corona virus are strict and effective in Greece. Due to the announcement and rules of the Greek Ministry of Tourism and Health for the summer.

Crete is the favorite Greek island again for holidays by the Dutch. According to a survey by Griekenland.net among 1,481 visitors of the website, 23% chose the largest Greek island as their umber one. Corfu received 11% of the votes, Kos 10%, Rhodes 9% and Lesbos and Samos both 8%.

Whether we can and may go on holiday in 2020 is still questionable this summer. The measures to prevent the spread of the Corona virus are strict and effective in Greece. Due to the announcement and rules of the Greek Ministry of Tourism and Health for the summer, in The Netherlands they have hope to go to Greece in July.

Karpathos in demand
Notable this year is the high ranking of Karpathos. The island was preferred for a holiday of 7% of the respondents. The beautiful beaches and tranquility are mentioned as attractions. Zakynthos also received 7% of the number of votes and here the Dutch like to see Navagio beach with the shipwreck and the cozy seaside resorts like Tsilivi.

Crete is a favorite for 2020 and that’s just like last year and the years before. The possibilities for a holiday here are also endless and you can go to the island normally early in the season. Especially in the big cities such as Chania, Heraklion and Rethymnon, a lot is open as early in the spring. In October and November it is normally still pleasantly busy here and the temperatures are pleasantly warm during the day.

Kefalonia, Lefkas, Mykonos and Santorini alternatives
Kefalonia and Lefkas are gaining popularity among the Dutch, but benefit less from returning guests. Also, Kefalonia has not yet been visited by a large number of Dutch, but the island is at the top of the wish list to go. Santorini and Mykonos are not comparable to other Greek islands. They would like to have visited it once and especially seen Oia on Santorini.
