Crissa Hotels launches the new S Hotel Montego Bay openinglate fall 2018

Redefining tourism in this quintessentially Jamaican destination.

MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA – Set for a late 2018 opening, and overlooking Jamaica’s famed Doctor’s Cave beach, the new, stylish and highly anticipated S Hotel Montego Bay will be poised as the ultimate trendsetting hotspot, putting the resort city of Montego Bay back on the map among international travelers.

The new and contemporary 120-room S Hotel, created by Chris Issa, owner of Kington’s revered and highly rated Spanish Court Hotel and a noted Jamaican entrepreneur, will artfully combine discrete urban sophistication and a laid-back resort lifestyle punctuated with a subtle, rootsy vibe. “This project is about how the life of a hotel can support a city,” said Issa who is also owner of Usain Bolt’s Tracks & Records restaurant franchise in Montego Bay, which is celebrating its opening this month.

From Miami to Mykonos, the inspiration will be as cosmopolitan as it comes, but the feeling will be notably Jamaican as the country’s soul and culture swirl together to create this new multi-experiential beachfront hotel. At S Hotel Montego Bay, buzzing bars, a chic cafe, a high-spirited pool scene, a Sky Bar and Lounge, an international restaurant, spa, boutique, gym and guest rooms with an elevated design aesthetic, will thoughtfully combine to create a modern and effervescent sense of place.

Jamaica-born and award-winning designer Alison Antrobus of Antrobus Ramirez, a full-service luxury design firm based in Miami, is overseeing the interior design of the property. A towering interior lobby walled with coral stone greets guests with a central ‘boardwalk’ and modern furnishings. Sleek interiors with an overarching monochromatic theme will give way to gorgeous blue Caribbean Sea or lively city views, while oversized soaking tubs will be the focal point of the bathrooms in the Spa Suites.

The hotel’s signature Sky Suite will soar above the property with 20-foot ceilings and a loft bedroom, while the Presidential Suite will feature three bedrooms and a living/dining room. Other room categories will range from The Essentials to Standard and Spa Suites that will include various spa amenities. A massive investment in Spain-based Dekton flooring by Cosentino is being used throughout and S Hotel is the company’s single largest project outside of Spain. Its durability, resistance to UV rays, scratches, stains, thermal shock and very low water absorption make this progressive surface perfect for the hotel's outdoor and indoor use. The collaboration with Dekton flooring by Cosentino is an opportunity to showcase this architectural and decorative innovation.

S Hotel won’t just be a place to be seen, it will be a chance to enter the constellation and shine. With an international ambiance reminiscent of a Mediterranean beach club accented by an irie vibe, the vast Swimming Pool will be framed by lounge-worthy swim-out cabanas, so guests can take center stage. White sand will cover half of the outdoor area around the pool, dotted with beach chairs and a sleek wood deck will complete the resort-style atmosphere.

Food and beverage will be essential to the hotel’s DNA and the beachside rum shack embodies that identity. Offering rum flights with a thoughtful education about aged Jamaican rums, this detailed amenity enhances guests’ indulgence of modern cocktailing and classic favorites. The pool bar will use top-shelf spirits and organic herbs to design inventive craft cocktails and straight-up classics, while an all-day menu boasts tasty, healthy snacks, made-to-order sandwiches, salads, and fresh juices.

Seemingly like you’re on the edge of the earth, the pinnacle of the property and ultimate sunset spot is the Sky Bar and Lounge, for exclusive Sky Club Suite guests. This enviable scene includes comfortable seating areas and sky-line beds for day and night rooftop relaxation and a modern cocktail menu fused with a decadent Jamaican-tapas menu prepared with fresh, locally grown ingredients.

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the main restaurant will feature artisanal Jamaican and international cuisine with a custom selection of wines, Champagnes and a full range of specialty house-made local elixirs. Enjoy regional and international seafood, and a wide variety of innovative, locally inspired dishes. The restaurant’s inviting design overlooks the haute-scene of the swimming pool, while the atmosphere is cozy, luxurious, and air-conditioned. Almond milk flat white or detox green juice? Check. Start your day right with your favorite cup of java, juice or light bite at Ska Cafe, which features indoor and outdoor seating, and a library with an international array of magazines, books and newspapers, and a daily-changing Spotify playlist.

S Hotel also offers flexible meeting and event spaces and services providing a unique combination of intimate settings for board meetings, corporate training, unforgettable weddings, and other special events. Concierge services will offer distinctive tours, excursions, and a resort boutique will also feature accessories and ready-to-wear from of-the-moment Jamaican designers.

The new S Hotel is centrally located on Montego Bay’s Hip Strip overlooking Doctor’s Cave Beach and the Caribbean Sea, just five minutes from Sangster International Airport and walking distance to nightlife, restaurants and shopping.

Crissa Hotels was created by Jamaican entrepreneur, Chris Issa. The seemingly eponymous word uses the derivative Jamaican Patois word, “Kriss” which means “excellent.” The group now includes Spanish Court Hotel and the Spanish Court Worthington event venue in Kingston, Tracks and Records and the S Hotel in Montego Bay (opening late 2018).
