Dates announced for new travel risk management bootcamp ahead of ISO 31030 release

Cal Pratt, Managing Director, Anvil Group.

ISO 31030 Travel Risk Management is a new standard that will provide guidance on how to manage the risks to organisations and their travellers as a result of undertaking travel.

Global travel and operational risk firm Anvil Group is partnering with the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) and Global Secure Accreditation to offer a new training course – Travel Risk Management Bootcamp: Understanding and Implementing ISO 31030.

ISO 31030 Travel Risk Management is a new standard that will provide guidance on how to manage the risks to organisations and their travellers as a result of undertaking travel. Due for publication later this year, the standard sets out a structured approach to the development, implementation, evaluation and review of travel risk management policies and programmes, and the assessment and treatment of travel risks.

Matthew Judge, Group Managing Director, Anvil Group: “Safety and security of travellers consistently tops the list of travel management priorities, and it will be a key focus as firms prepare for the return to travel in a post-pandemic world.”

He continues: “One of the aims of the new standard is to promote a culture where travel-related risk is taken seriously, resourced adequately, and managed effectively. ISO 31030 establishes clear guidelines for assessing risks related to travel, and how to manage and benchmark those risks. It will remove the guesswork and provide clarity in an area that’s never been more critical for companies and their travellers.”

Ahead of the publication of the standard, Anvil Group has partnered with the GBTA and Global Secure Accreditation to offer a series of one-day virtual programmes that will help travel and procurement professionals explore travel risk management in the context of the upcoming ISO 31030 guidelines and provide practical guidance to anyone involved in building and managing corporate travel programmes.

The sessions will bring together experts in travel risk management – including Anvil Group’s US Managing Director, Cal Pratt, and Group Head of Intelligence, Karl Kirkcaldy – to provide clear guidance on risk and a practical step-by-step guide on how to implement the policies and procedures to run a robust travel risk management programme. Session participants will also earn a GBTA Travel Risk Management certificate and credit towards their Global Travel Professional status.

"We’re thrilled to be supporting the training ahead of the official publication of the new standard,” stated Anvil Group’s Cal Pratt. “Although organisations may have policies and processes in place to manage risk, travel-related risk presents a unique context, and many organisations’ existing processes may need to be adapted to reflect this. As travel and procurement professionals prepare for the new risk management landscape, the travel risk management bootcamp will give them a head start in advance of the ISO 31030 release.”
