Dream Hotel Group announces plans to reopen Dream Downtown on Friday, August 21

NEW YORK – Celebrated hotel brand and management company Dream Hotel Group, home to its Dream Hotels, Time Hotels, Unscripted Hotels, The Chatwal and new By Dream Hotel Group brands, announced plans to reopen Dream Downtown, bringing its award-winning hospitality and service back to New York City on Friday, August 21. Dream Hotels’ iconic flagship location in New York joins Dream Hotels locations Dream Nashville in Tennessee, Dream Hollywood in California and Dream South Beach in Florida, which are all open and safely welcoming guests back now.

At Dream Hotel Group, we are committed now more than ever to providing our guests with a safe place to stay and play,” said Dream Hotel Group CEO Jay Stein. “Today’s announcement to reopen our east coast flagship Dream Downtown marks a major turning point for our company as we begin the road to recovery post-pandemic, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome our loyal guests and local community back to enjoy the forward-thinking design, bespoke service and one-of-a-kind hospitality in the heart of New York’s famed Meatpacking District.

Set between Manhattan’s illustrious Meatpacking District and Chelsea neighborhood at 355 West 16th Street, Dream Downtown embodies full-service luxury with edgy design, indulgent amenities and a multitude of on-site dining and nightlife venues. These include The Beach, a 5,000-square-foot rooftop pool scene with Manhattan’s only sand beach and PHD Rooftop Lounge, the ultimate outdoor penthouse offering skyline views of the Hudson River and Empire State Building, which are both now open and accepting reservations.

The Beach at Dream Downtown includes a glass-bottom pool, pool deck, sand beach, private cabanas and more than 30 chaise lounges with a full-service bar and a seasonal food menu. The pool deck is open Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Wednesday through Sunday, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., weather permitting. Reservations are strongly recommended and are limited to groups of 1 or 2 people to maintain social distancing guidelines for the pool area. For groups up to 10 people, Cabana reservations are recommended. Due to occupancy limits, pool passes are not included with room reservations and may be purchased online here.

Featuring timeless, luxurious finishes including Italian Portoro marble, Macassar ebony, nickel finish walls and amber Venini glass chandeliers, PHD Rooftop Lounge, located on the 12th floor of Dream Downtown, is open for outdoor drinks and dining Thursday through Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., weather permitting. Reservations are strongly recommended, walk-ins accepted upon availability.

The BENJAMIN salon, located on the lobby level at Dream Downtown, is also now open and accepting appointments Tuesday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The BENJAMIN is a Los Angeles-based hair care brand founded by Benjamin Mohapi. With a dedication to craftsmanship and a focus on the highest quality product, everything created at BENJAMIN is done with the design of achieving the exceptional.

In preparation for reopening, Dream Hotel Group developed a comprehensive health and cleanliness plan for all of its hotels, restaurants and bars that supplements the American Hotel & Lodging Association’s Safe Stay guidelines and is based on recommendations and requirements of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO), as well as other federal, state and local agencies, to minimize risk and enhance the safety for its guests and associates. A few of the enhanced safety standards and technologies guests can expect to see at Dream Downtown include: mandatory face coverings for all guests, visitors and staff throughout the hotel’s public spaces; extensive cleaning and sanitizing measures; hand sanitizer stations widely available in high traffic areas; increased frequency of cleaning and disinfection of high touch surfaces including elevator buttons; mandatory temperature checks and health screenings of all staff and vendors prior to entering the premises; new physical distancing guidelines; reconfigured public spaces allowing for proper physical distancing; contactless check-in and check-out; no-touch payment options; no-contact food ordering and delivery; amplified employee training programs; the use of personal protective equipment and more.

Inspired by modern artist Anish Kapoor's Sky Mirror, Dream Downtown’s stainless steel exterior and porthole windows reflect a storied maritime past. The hotel’s 315 loft-style guestrooms and suites were designed to evoke an industrial-chic aesthetic, capturing the essence of downtown art legend Andy Warhol's Factory. Revamped in 2015, the two-story GuestHouse suite features a 2,500 sq. ft. garden terrace, glass-bottom Jacuzzi and exclusive VIP guest amenities. The hotel is home to TAO Group’s upscale Mexican restaurant Bodega Negra, California-inspired Natura Café and Philippe Chow serving modern Chinese cuisine, as well as exclusive nightlife venues PHD Rooftop Lounge and Electric Room. BENJAMIN Salon and a rotating art gallery spotlighting emerging local artists complete the unrivaled Dream Downtown experience.

Stein added, “We will continue to monitor business trends and look forward to sharing news around additional hotel re-openings in New York City soon. Getting our teams back to work and providing a safer environment for our employees and our guests remain our top priorities.”
