Among 284 beaches promoted on the first site dedicated to tourism in Europe, here are the 22 favorite beaches of travellers for this summer 2022, the most voted beaches (panel of 12,620 travellers from 82 countries - mainly English travellers 22% and Americans (16%).

Madeira Islands is seen as the leading destination for sunny holidays with two beaches ranked in the top5. A safe destination during the Covid thanks to effective measures, it is also seen as a safe destination in these troubled times. Madeira benefits from an image of a nature destination, sporty, authentic, less crowded than other European islands. 

The golden sandy beach of Porto Santo wins the title of most beautiful beach in Europe this year, demonstrating the desire of travellers to treat themselves more than ever to well-being and wellness holidays in sunny destinations.

Italy is also popular with travellers from all over the world with 8 beaches ranked among the most beautiful beaches in Europe.

Greece has 4 destinations ranked among the most beautiful beaches in Europe.

Spain has 5 beaches classified in this ranking, including wilder beaches in less touristy areas such as Laga Beach in the Basque Country.

France joins this ranking this year with three beaches - Santa Giulia Beach in Corsica - Calanque d'En Vau in the natural park of Calanques - Marseille and "La Grève" beach located in Trégastel.

The 2022 results of this ranking confirm the leadership of holiday destinations favored by travellers. 

Madeira is currently experiencing a very significant interest which translates into more than 10 new airlines from the main cities of Europe and even direct flights from the USA.

It is seen as a destination combining nature - sun - beach - outdoor sport - gastronomy - wellness - Lifestyle - Shopping - Family. 

Spain remains an attractive destination for travellers who this year are ready to visit less known and less crowded beaches. Greece and Italy maintain a strong position as a summer holiday destination in Europe.

Latest observation: Hel Peninsula - close to Gdansk and facing the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad is also ranked in the top 10 beaches in Europe this year. The location of the beaches being systematically shown to travellers, this choice shows a desire on the part of travellers to support destinations with a nature offer, wide open spaces and most certainly to support freedom.
