Fairfield by Marriott hotel to open in downtown St. Louis

The new hotel is located within the footprint of $8 billion in development underway in the city of St. Louis.

ST. LOUIS – The 136-room Fairfield by Marriott hotel in downtown St. Louis will open this Thursday, February 13 as part of a dynamic transformation of the Downtown West area of St. Louis. The hotel will open with new décor that provides guests with a feeling of warmth and calm while traveling. Located at 2144 Market Street, the Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites St. Louis Downtown will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned and managed by Equis Hospitality Management LLC of St. Louis, Missouri

The new hotel is located within the footprint of $8 billion in development underway in the city of St. Louis. Neighboring project highlights include a $250 million Major League Soccer stadium for St. Louis’ new soccer expansion team that will open across the street, the new St. Louis Aquarium and St. Louis Wheel at the $187 million Union Station family entertainment complex. Saint Louis University’s new hospital building, the City Foundry STL creative complex and the historic Armory – being revitalized into a modern office space – are also nearby. Additionally, the Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites St. Louis Downtown is located on the pathway to the new $1 billion National Geo-spacial Intelligence Agency under construction in St. Louis.

Situated downtown and 17 miles from St. Louis Lambert International Airport, the Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites St. Louis Downtown offers guests convenient access to the Gateway Arch; Enterprise Center, home of the NHL Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues; the America’s Center convention complex and the Dome at America’s Center; Busch Stadium where the legendary St. Louis Cardinals play; Soldiers Memorial Military Museum; the Scott Joplin House and 201-year-old Saint Louis University.

“Delivering both function and comfort, our new design and décor elevate the Fairfield brand, setting a new standard in the moderate tier category,” said Janis Milham, Senior Vice President and Global Brand Leader, Classic Select Brands at Marriott International. “At Fairfield by Marriott, we provide an easy, positive and productive travel experience, as well as the promise of consistent and reliable service at an exceptional value. The Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites St. Louis Downtown is a truly stunning example of the brand’s contemporary look and feel, and we are pleased with the continued growth of Fairfield by Marriott hotels in the St. Louis area.”

“This is the first, ground-up Marriott select service hotel to be built in the City of St. Louis’ downtown market in decades,” said Equis Hotels Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Michael Mullenix. “This hotel will now capture the traditional Marriott hotel customer seeking a true, ground-up Marriott select service hotel brand downtown. It will provide a quality offering so that guests do not have to travel outside of downtown to satisfy their lodging needs.”

“Our new hotel will not only serve the existing hotel demand generators in the city, but it will definitely accommodate the exciting growth now taking place in the City of St. Louis, including the new $600 million Saint Louis University hospital project and the new $1.6 billion National Geo-Spatial Intelligence Agency (NGA) headquarters campus currently under construction just a mile north of our site,” added Mullenix.

Fairfield by Marriott’s new décor package is warm, timeless, forward-thinking, and inviting with simple nods back to the brand’s heritage. Specific elements meant to evoke feelings from the Fairfield Farm include a farmhouse table in the lobby for gathering and connecting, photography from the Fairfield Farm serving as artwork in the lobby and guest rooms, natural materials and unique textures, and a history wall in every property showcasing the brand’s roots.

The new guestroom design is impactful and unique, while addressing the functional needs of the Fairfield guest for a seamless experience. The room was designed with the modern traveler in mind, allowing for productivity on the road without overcomplicating the guestroom. Each room features a modern lounge chair, serving as both functional and comfortable to either work or relax in. The artwork in the room takes center stage with the window treatment acting as a focal point, displaying photography taken at the Fairfield Farm. The material is sheer and allows light to pass through the photography, warming up the room and creating a comfortable environment. Each room also offers the latest in-room entertainment technology, allowing guests to access their Hulu and Netflix accounts, as well as YouTube, Amazon Prime and HBO Go, through the HDTV. The guestrooms also feature a mobile desk, a comfortable couch, refrigerator, coffeemaker and microwave.

Additional hotel amenities include a large fitness center, business services, valet laundry service, complimentary Wi-Fi, and 1,892 square feet of meeting space to accommodate functions of up to 200 people. The five-story property also boasts a full-service bar with an outdoor patio on Market Street. A complimentary hot breakfast featuring oatmeal, scrambled eggs, sausage, make-your-own waffles and other healthy items, such as fruit, yogurt, and whole grain cereals and breads is also available.
