FBB builds an additional BER terminal with a general contractor

Capacity for 6 million passengers each year.

Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH will build the terminal in front of the north pier with a general contractor. Allocation of contracts is expected in the summer. This additional terminal has a yearly capacity of 6 million passengers and its opening will raise the BER’s total capital to 28 million passengers. Together with Schonefeld airport, which will stay in operation until the end of 2025, the airport complex will provide for nearly 40 million passengers each year.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Engelbert Lutke Daldrup, CEO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH: “Right from the start the BER will have a sufficient capacity at its disposal. The BER will provide more space and better conditions for the rush of passengers from Tegel and the expected growth of the coming years than we have been able to offer in the past. In particular, the ever-growing affordable airlines will benefit from the additional terminal with optimal conditions to fly more passengers to and from Berlin."

The allocation to a general contractor sees the plans for the future extension of BER put in action. With attractive and functional buildings such as the new terminal, the airport’s expansion will adjust to the future passenger numbers with flexibility and modular construction.
