Feeling under the weather: Stay at home and do these 7 things

In the article below, you’ll find several ways to spend time and take care of yourself when you’re sick and at home.

When you're unwell, it's only natural to take the day off work and stay at home with your family. This way, you can take advantage of the warmth of your bed, have a cup of hot tea, and call your mother, grandmother, or a friend to bring you soup.

But what if you're not feeling really ill and the thought of lying in bed seems a little boring? Doctors don't advise returning to work until you've recovered completely – and we've come up with some suggestions to help you make the most of your time off.

In the article below, you’ll find several ways to spend time and take care of yourself when you’re sick and at home. Ordering some comfort food, relaxing, doing something you enjoy, getting more sleep, and even thinking about working from home are all good options to explore (in some cases, of course). Continue reading to find out more about that – and we hope you get better soon.

Order Some Comfort Food
There’s nothing like a hot bowl of chicken soup or a warm salad to make you feel better when you’re under the weather. If your partner is home, they can order takeout for you or even prepare a few dishes.

If you feel well enough to eat something, make sure to choose a restaurant that serves warm dishes full of flavor. Steak, mashed potatoes, soups with plenty of vegetables, garlic bread and butter, are all perfect components of a wholesome meal that will make you feel better after eating them. Don't forget to drink plenty of water with your meal, too!

Do Something Your Enjoy
Do something you love doing to relax: have a dance party with your kids, watch your favorite movie, play a game of cards with your children or friends, spin some free slots at High 5 Casino, listen to music, read a book, or paint.

Get More Sleep
Even if you’re not used to sleeping during the day, that can be beneficial when you're sick. After all, your body needs to rest and fight the disease. Sleep between 7-9 hours a night if possible, and if you’re feeling tired, take a nap.

It is recommended that you take a nap for 10-20 minutes between noon at around 2 pm if possible. Bring some blankets, place an extra pillow under your head, and close your eyes. Your body will thank you for it.

Consider Working From Home
If you’re feeling better, think about whether or not you can work from home. You can do this if your boss is supportive and there aren’t too many urgent tasks and deadlines. Working from home would be a great option if you’re feeling a bit under the weather so that you don’t have to commute to work and can rest at home.

Call a Friend
If you have someone you can call, tell them you’re sick and ask them if they can bring you some soup or juice. This way, you can stay in bed and relax. Get your friend to tell you about their day, talk about your favorite TV show, or play music for you. If you don’t know anyone who can check on you during the day, ask a family member or neighbor to pop in and see how you’re doing.

Watch an Uplifting Movie
If you’re feeling well enough to do so, watch a movie with your family or friends. It will be fun to share your experiences and thoughts after the film is over. If you like, make popcorn and have a few drinks while watching your favorite movie.

Make sure to choose something uplifting and positive – whether it is a classic like Singin' in the Rain or a new season of Ted Lasso, they’ll both do the trick and improve your mood.

Take Care of Yourself
You might not feel sick now, but it only takes one infection for your cold to turn into something worse. If you want to feel better as quickly as possible, follow doctors' advice and take care of yourself: get plenty of rest, drink copious amounts of water and warm drinks, eat wholesome meals, and exercise regularly (but not right when you're sick) to support your immune system.

Final Thoughts
Feeling under the weather can be a drag, but there are plenty of things you can do to make it more fun. If you’re lying in bed, you can order takeout food, watch a movie, or think about working from home (if you are able to). It’s essential to take care of yourself – get plenty of rest, drink lots of water, and eat healthily.

Remember to take care of yourself and stay home with your family. However, make sure to consult your doctor if you don’t feel better after a few days.
