The purpose of the competition is to recognise the best apps, whether national or international, which in one way or another help to improve the tourist’s experience when organising their trip.

MADRID – FITUR and SEGITTUR have called the fourth edition of the tourist app competition for mobiles, “The AppTourism Awards”, in recognition of the importance that apps have acquired for tourists when organising their trips. This initiative will be part of the upcoming staging of the International Tourism Trade Fair organised by IFEMA from 18 to 22 January 2017 at Feria de Madrid.

The purpose of the competition is to recognise the best apps, whether national or international, which in one way or another help to improve the tourist’s experience when organising their trip.

The apps can be entered in eight different categories, which include: best app for smartwatch; best national destination guide; best sports tourism, nature and adventure app; best Sun and Sand app; best culture, wine and gastronomy tourism app; best tourist services app; best international destination guide and best international app for tourist services.

The jury of “The AppTourism Awards” competition will comprise trade experts from the technology, tourism, online marketing and communication industries.

The award implies the recognition of SEGITTUR, a body attached to the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, and FITUR, one of the world’s principal tourism trade shows, of the best tourist apps in their different categories.

In the category of national apps, the winners will also be included in the “Spain Collection” app which will feature the best tourist applications for Spain. They will also be present in the repository of applications of Spain’s official tourism portal.
