MADRID, SPAIN - The first edition of FITUR Cruises was not only a great success but welcomed with open arms, exceeding expectations and confirming why cruise travel is one of the fastest growing sectors of the tourism industry.
FITUR Cruises debuted as part of the 2022 International Tourism Fair which took place in IFEMA MADRID (Spain). On Saturday, January 22 -the first day the fair was open to the public- FITUR Cruises organized a large number of activities geared towards presenting the cruise experience to everyone.
This historic inclusion of the cruise sector in FITUR was organized by the team of CruceroAdicto.com, the most widely-read Spanish language online magazine dedicated solely to cruising.
The day began with the first ever Cruise Scavenger Hunt where 80 registered teams searched for stands of popular cruise ports and destinations throughout the various pavilions, guided by clues and the correct answer to riddles they needed to solve. The prize for successfully filling up their "passport" was participation in a raffle for 4 cruises as well as 2 shore excursion vouchers.
In the afternoon, during the special emission of the weekly live program "Actualidad de Cruceros" (Cruise News), there was a recap of industry-related stories that have been affecting travelers lately. During this segment, more information was revealed about the rumor that is shaking up the industry; a new Spanish cruise line will begin operating in April 2023 and all signs point to its official announcement this year.
After the news program, it was time to show the more festive side of cruising, bringing for the first time to the FITUR stage a typical show that one could find on board a cruise ship, all thanks to Emerald Spanic. The mighty voice of Florencia accompanied by the talented Aitor and Javier on electric violin and cello, respectively, sent a vibrant energy through the audience of the filled auditorium of this inaugural FITUR Cruises.
The grand finale of the day was highlighted by the raffle whose prizes were provided by Royal Caribbean, Costa Cruceros, MSC Cruceros, Celestyal Cruises, and the tour operator Shore2Shore.
This celebration was also made possible by the institutional support of the Andalusian Ports through the association that brings them all together, Suncruise Adalucía, who gave away event t-shirts to all the attendees.
After taking this first step into the cruise segment, FITUR will now work to enhance this specialized section of the fair even further. Together with the activities offered for the general public, the next edition will also include a B2B focus in order to convene the professional sector of the cruise industry.
