Five things to do in Paris by night during the Christmas holidays

In other words: what does Paris have to offer, in terms of nocturnal scene, during the holiday season? We have isolated five things that everyone who aims to visit Paris in this period should try overnight.

Probably the majority of people is not completely aware of that, and someone may be even surprise to hear it, but Paris is by far the most “Christmas-friendly” European capital. Spending your Christmas holidays (including the New Year’s Eve and the fists days afterwards) in the French capital could be the most exciting experience of your life. Clearly, many tourists – especially those coming from the North-European countries – prefer to fly away in some exotic destination, where the weather is hot and there is a portion of lush ocean beach available just a few steps away. But Paris in late December-early January can really surprise everyone, even the most skeptical.

Much more renowned and appreciated on a worldwide scale is the notorious nightlife that Paris is able to offer to both residents and tourists. But what happens when you combine these two terms? In other words: what does Paris have to offer, in terms of nocturnal scene, during the holiday season? We have isolated five things that everyone who aims to visit Paris in this period should try overnight.

1. A nightly city sightseeing on an open-top double-decker bus
Not by chance, Paris is also called “La Ville Lumière”, thus when the sun has set down it is the perfect time to admire its thousands of city lights (even brighter and more colorful during the Christmas holidays). Moreover, everyone who wants to book a Paris night tour has a huge variety of options available, in terms of duration, itinerary and price.

2. A cruise over the Seine
Another top-notch tourists’ evergreen. A luxury boat will take you on a trip along the most romantic river of Europe. In many nightly offers, a delicious dinner is included.

3. A night at the Moulin Rouge
Forget the Baz Luhrmann’s film and its decadent atmosphere: the contemporary Moulin Rouge experience is an immersion in a kaleidoscope of lights and colors. A postmodern show with a hint of Belle Époque, that gives its best during Christmas and the days immediately after (including New Year’s Eve, of course).

4. Going shopping at the Marchés de Noël
Trying to enumerate all the Christmas markets located throughout the territory of Paris is almost impossible. Almost every important square and/or street has one. Moreover, many of them are temporary and last just a few days before being dismantled: it is the case, for example, of the regional markets, especially those that sell delicacies from other areas of France. Among them, the Alsatian marché at the Gare de l'Est is the most popular. In general terms, even if the markets have different closing hours, most of them are open at least until 23:00.

5. New Year’s Eve at the Tour Eiffel
Can you imagine a better way to start a new year? The only contraindication is that, in order to secure a seat in one of the tower’s restaurants, you should reserve far in advance. But do not despair: you can always fall back on one of the many restaurants on the nearby: when Midnight comes, the show will be amazing in any case.
