The Russian airline RusLine is now flying from Berlin Tegel to Kaliningrad. Three times a week, the airline will be connecting the German capital with the most westerly city in Russia. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday they will be taking off towards the Baltic city. In just two hours, passengers will arrive in former Konigsberg. For this voyage they will be using a Bombardier CRJ.

Amber country or Russia's most westerly city
The old trading city of Kaliningrad lies on the coast of the Baltic Sea on the most western tip of Russia. The exclave Kaliningrad is not connected to the Russian motherland. Sandwiched between Lithuania and Poland, the city acts as a link between western and eastern Europe. Here contemporary Russia meets German history, that much is certainly clear from the urban landscape. Buildings from the Soviet Era stand next to Prussian ones. As well as the city, which enchants tourists with a variety of museums and theatres, the Kaliningrad oblast captivates visitors with its landscape. Its location on the Baltic Seas between the Curonian and the Vistula Spits offers a unique natural spectacle. Here you will find Europe's highest dunes and longest sand beaches. The oblast is a true holiday paradise. As it has been for hundreds of years, Kaliningrad is especially well-known for its amber production. Just off the coast of the city, you will find one of the largest sources of amber in the world. For this reason, this area of Russia is also known as amber country.
