flydubai to launch Dubai and beyond from Budapest

The year-round service will contribute an extra 62,000 seats to the Budapest market in 2019.

From 27 June 2019, Budapest Airport will offer passengers even more choice to Dubai and beyond, as flydubai confirms that it will launch a daily service to the Middle Eastern metropolis from the Hungarian capital. Using state-of-the-art 737 MAX 8s, configured with 10 business class and 156 economy seats, the year-round service will contribute an extra 62,000 seats to the Budapest market in 2019.

“We are overjoyed to welcome another new airline to Budapest’s list of ever-growing carriers, with more and more operators discovering the potential of the airport,” states Balazs Bogats, Head of Airline Development, Budapest Airport. “Adding to Emirates’ existing daily lunchtime service, flydubai’s operation will give Hungarian travellers an evening departure option to Dubai, allowing for more seamless connections to major cities throughout Asia, Africa and Australia.” Adding further comment, Bogats informs: “Over 260,000 passengers travelled between Budapest and Dubai in 2017, while for the first nine months of 2018 just shy of 200,000 passengers have flown the route. These numbers show how important connectivity to this hub is for our passengers, so we’re thrilled that flydubai is adding more capacity.”

“Budapest is an important centre for commerce, trade and industry and is an incredibly popular leisure destination, especially during the summer,” comments Jeyhun Efendi, Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations and E-commerce for flydubai. “Making Budapest more accessible to travellers looking for new places to explore will undoubtedly stimulate traffic flows and tourism. This new route also provides those in Hungary with the opportunity to explore Dubai and beyond on our network.”

flydubai services, which will operate in code-share with Emirates, will leave Budapest at 23:30, arriving into Dubai at 07:05 the following day. Flights to Budapest will leave Dubai at 17:35, arriving at 21:30. The new flight will result in seat capacity to Dubai increasing by 24% in 2019.
