Four vacation ideas in Croatia for every budget

Whatever your budget, we’ve assembled a guide to fantastic vacations that help you explore this gorgeous country and experience its legendary hospitality.

Croatia boasts an achingly beautiful Adriatic coastline. It is also home to incredible inland scenery and some fantastic cities. We know you can't wait to visit this stunning country and create lifelong memories, but you'll need to know the best spots to visit first.

Whatever your budget, we've assembled a guide to fantastic vacations that help you explore this gorgeous country and experience its legendary hospitality.

1. Charter a yacht
Let's start with the ultimate way to experience the Adriatic: on the sea. A luxury yacht charter Croatia experience gives you plenty of views, photo opportunities, and stunning memories. You'll observe this glorious, pristine coastline and its azure seas while enjoying the finer things in life.

There are many port cities and towns along the way you can stop at and take a day or two of soaking in the local color. Dubrovnik in the far south has a beautiful old town, while further up, Split is a bustling commercial center and is perfect for shopping and visiting top-class restaurants.

2. Luxury villas on the Dalmatian Coast
If you're looking for an extended luxury experience, many beautiful villas are available to rent up and down the Dalmatian coast. These overlook the glittering sea and give you easy access to private beaches, where you can relax all-day undisturbed.

Croatians pride themselves on being among the greatest hosts in the world, and you'll experience the top-notch accommodations from the moment you check in. The food in Croatia is also superb, and it's always a short walk to a restaurant serving up a range of wonderful local dishes.

The lower Dalmatian coast is perhaps the most popular destination for luxury villas. Still, you can find options all the way up the country's long coastline, including several on the nearby islands. For example, the island of Pag offers beautiful resorts in locations like Novalja, while you can experience legendary parties at nearby Zrce festival beach.

3. Travel the country
Why limit yourself to the coast? There are many coastal destinations worth a visit in Croatia, but inland has superb offerings – stop off at cities like Zagreb and Rijeka to take in the local sights, or wonder at the sea organ in Zadar. Accommodation is available cheaply if you're traveling on a budget, but most places also offer a wide range of hotels including luxury options.

The Plitvice Lakes national park is a must-see attraction, with its pristine blue-green waters among the clearest you'll ever see. You can walk around the park in a day and even cross the water in a boat – just make sure you've got plenty of storage space available on your camera, you're going to be taking a lot of photos.

4. Experience the historical city of Zagreb
Zagreb is a fascinating city. You can find beautiful old townhouses in the city center and climb the steps up to the old town. You can discover the city's more recent past on its outskirts with towering buildings making a striking contrast to the greenery and ancient finery of the center.

The cathedral is beautiful, and the city is one of the cleanest capitals in Europe. It also boasts some unique museums, including the terrifying Museum of Torture and the ever-intriguing Museum of Broken Relationships. Accommodation in the city ranges from extremely affordable to luxury stays in palatial buildings.

A treasure chest of hidden gems
Croatia's dazzling coast is famous and remains the most prized vacation destination. However, there's so much to explore inland and even in the coastal towns and cities that dot the Dalmatian Coast. We recommend checking out all of the spots in our guide for the full experience. However, no matter what experience you're after, we guarantee Croatia has an unforgettable journey waiting for you.
