FTE Europe & FTE Ancillary 2018 Exhibition & Conference a huge success

Delivering innovation and technology inspiration.

More than 500 senior attendees representing international airlines, airports, vendors, technology leaders, startups, travel retailers, academia, and industry associations, gathered at the RDS in Dublin last week for the co-located Future Travel Experience Europe & Ancillary events.

More than 50 of the most forward-thinking vendors in the air transport sector showcased their latest products, services and concepts. Attendees had the opportunity to demo a raft of the most progressive solutions and pre-arrange meetings with exhibitors; over 750 one-to-one meetings were arranged onsite over the two days.

Co-creation sessions, the first FTE Startup Hub Live Day, the Connectivity & IFE Business Case Summit and Networking Drinks Party were just some of the other fantastic features of the show, which boasts four unrivalled conference tracks featuring leading industry experts, big name speakers, and forward-thinking innovators, all willing to share unique and invaluable content.

The conferences, renowned for their inspiring keynote addresses, started on day one with daa CEO Dalton Philips offering unique insight into retail and ancillary revenue opportunities, before Virgin Hyperloop One’s Head of Marketing Ryan Kelly outlined how the “fifth mode of transportation” can complement the air transport sector. This continued on day two, with McLaren Applied Technologies and Deloitte, industry legend Conor McCarthy, and Ryanair CMO Kenny Jacobs, who offered a behind-the-scenes look at the LCC’s technology, customer experience and ancillary strategies.

The ‘Ancillary’ conference brought together a number of high-level speakers from across the industry to share inspiration, expertise and lessons learned on how to use digital channels and new technology to create new ancillary revenue streams at every stage of the passenger journey. Among the many highlights was an exclusive update on the BARTA (Brand, Airline, Retailer, Technology, Airport) trial, which is already delivering positive commercial returns.

The ‘Digital & Innovation’ and ‘Future Airports & Baggage’ conference tracks also attracted a huge level of interest. Delegates experienced the launch of the FTE Tech Download Think Tank, while the likes of IAG, Gatwick Airport, WOW air, Brussels Airlines, American Airlines, Amazon Web Services, JetBlue Technology Ventures, KLM, Geneva Airport, and Swedavia, participated in wide-reaching panels that covered everything from personalisation and disruptive innovation, to the future of passenger and baggage processing.
