Fun things to do in Brisbane for families

Brisbane is blessed because it is basked in sun all year round, meaning that outdoor activities like paddleboarding are rife. Even more, you can have a fantastic day out no matter what your budget – you can even do things for free.

The sun is beating down, the schools have broken up, and it’s time to get the family together and have a fun-filled day out. The sunny capital of Queensland has so much excitement to offer. Whether you head down to the South Bank of the Brisbane River or head to one of the many museums, there is bound to be something to suit all tastes. Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary
You can’t get any more iconic than the koala… I mean, we could talk about Fosters, but that’s for another time. Your entire family will enjoy getting up close and personal with the koala. Sitting just 20 minutes from Brisbane city centre, the sanctuary is the largest in the world, with over 130 of the cuties – for a little extra money you can even hold one of the little guys. As well as the koala, the sanctuary is almost home to more than 90 other species.

South Bank
South Bank is the prime hub of Brisbane’s riverside entertainment and it is packed with fun things to do. Everything from museums, gardens, and splash parks await. The best thing about South Bank is that there’s no entry fee and you don’t have to spend anything if you don’t want to, you just get your gang together and enjoy yourself. So, parents, grab yourself a sunning spot and let the kids have a splash – it’s a win-win for everyone.

River Cruise
Give your legs a rest and take the family on a relaxing sightseeing river tour. The tours are family-friendly and will cater to both adults and children – giving you both different perspectives of spots along the way. You can even take the riverboat on a small budget, as you can take the CityHopper ferry for free, which will stop at landmarks along the way.

Why don’t you pair this with a trip to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, as there’s an information service that will take you to from the head of Brisbane to the natural habitat of the koala?

Wheel of Brisbane
If you would like to take in some of the beautiful Brisbane sights from a height of 60 meters, then the Wheel of Brisbane is just for you. The ride itself only lasts around 12 minutes, so you might want to pair this with a day out at South Bank. You get a 360-degree view of Brisbane and thankfully, air-conditioned gondolas – meaning your kids can enjoy the view without the heights being too scary.

As you can see, there is a lot of things to do in Brisbane for you and the entire family. The fun doesn’t stop there because there’s a whole world of fun just waiting for you to go and explore – so what are you waiting for?
