G Adventures celebrates 1,000 trips departing as booking window shortens

Community tourism pioneer offers 20 per cent off ‘Classic’ bucket list adventures.

Last week, G Adventures celebrated its 1,000th tour departure – with not one, but 11 trips departing to coincide with the milestone departure date. It also recorded its shortest booking window since the pandemic, with people booking on average five months prior to departure compared to four months pre-Covid.

To celebrate the milestones in the return to international travel, the small group adventure operator is offering a 20 per cent discount off its popular Classic program of bucket list adventures, and reassuring agents that it has plenty of inventory for those looking to book their long-awaited bucket list trip.

The 1,000th departures exemplify how G Adventures has safely and successfully operated since September 2020 – more tours than any other adventure operator since the onset of the global pandemic – supporting employment and boosting the local economies in countries dependent on tourism such as Costa Rica, Ecuador, Egypt, Kenya, Morocco, Peru, and Turkey.

Brian Young, managing director for G Adventures EMEA, says that the recent change in travel restrictions, with more destinations opening their borders has spurred Britain’s travellers into booking their next trip, including long haul destinations, closer to departure.

Celebrating 1,000 departures is a real milestone for G Adventures. Throughout the pandemic, we’ve remained committed to offering our community of global travellers the opportunity to explore and adventure, in a safe way. We’re running a whole host of destinations, ranging from Greece, Italy and Iceland to Costa Rica, the Maldives and Kenya, and are experienced in all the new protocols required for travel as the world reopens. The shortened booking window proves travellers from Britain are trusting us to get them back out into the world sooner rather than later.

We’re seeing a rise in first time bookers, as more travellers turn to the adventure and touring sector for their next holiday and we’re delighted to be able to offer a healthy 20 percent discount to help travellers get back out there and reconnect with the world,” says Young.

This month, G Adventures also started its Vaccinated Tours and Travel-Ready programmes, which are an evolution of its Travel with Confidence policy, which also remains in place. This policy was introduced in June 2020, and saw the implementation of enhanced health, safety and physical distancing measures across all tours.

On Vaccinated Tours, all travellers and CEOs (chief experience officers) must have received a full COVID-19 vaccination with the final dose administered at least 14 days prior to day one of the tour. On Travel-Ready tours, all travellers and CEOs must have either received a full COVID-19 vaccination, or have a negative PCR test within 96 hours prior to day one of their tour’s departure. An icon will be featured next to each trip on the website to indicate which category of tour the departure falls under.
