Project ICARUS is looking to recognise Outstanding Achievements in furthering business travel and meetings sustainability programmes
ALEXANDRIA - The GBTA Foundation, the education and research foundation of the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) and Project ICARUS proudly announce the first Project ICARUS European Outstanding Achievement Awards for Sustainability, in business travel and meetings across Europe.

The Project ICARUS Global Advisory Board and Sustainability Committee looks to recognise travel buyers, suppliers and intermediaries who can demonstrate outstanding leadership, innovation and commitment to delivering best in class sustainability programmes, product and services across Europe.

“Recently, we have seen an increase in the number of companies building sustainability into their business travel and meetings programmes and we are thrilled to recognise those companies and individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to this drive to greater sustainability in our industry”, said Bernard Harrop, Head of Sustainability, Project ICARUS.

Awards will be made at the GBTA Europe Conference in Prague, 23rd – 25th September 2013.

Closing date for applications is 16th August 2013.

Earlier in 2013, Project ICARUS hosted the first North American Outstanding Achievement Awards programme. The winners, which included Oracle Corporation, Green Hotels Global and Enterprise Holdings, received their specially commissioned Project ICARUS bronze trophy at the GBTA Foundation Gala Dinner held in New York on the 18th March 2013.

Bernard Harrop, Head of Sustainability, Project ICARUS commented, “The standard of submission was very high and reflects the growing commitment to sustainability within our industry. This is proof indeed, that Sustainability is fast becoming a ‘business as usual subject’ in board rooms of leading organisations in North America”.
