GMID celebrates our workforce and the possibilities of what’s to come, says Events Industry Council CEO

Amy Calvert, CEO, Events Industry Council.

This crisis has illuminated a clear message: We are united in our common humanity and when faced with the enormity of this pandemic, we can choose hope. We can choose gratitude. We can choose to envision a more collaborative and human-centric approach.

Amy Calvert. CEO, Events Industry Council in a message, says, "The power of positivity, humanity, resilience and reality played out in full force during GMID20. You showed up with open hearts and minds, ready to soak in the knowledge and experience of your peers. For that we cannot express enough gratitude.

To our speakers who challenged us, inspired us and guided us: Thank you. To the our EIC coalition members and team that put together an amazing programme: Thank you, too.

We hope you felt the connection to our global community through the virtual GMID experience. The conversation is only just beginning. We will post session recordings next week, and encourage you to keep connecting, to keep growing.

This is truly a time to come together and collaborate as we all take steps into a somewhat unknown (and by definition, uncomfortable) future. It’s also a time to focus on leading from where you are, taking time to upskill, seeking and offering support of our industry peers – and giving yourself an opportunity to regroup, refresh, and practice mindfulness.

This crisis has illuminated a clear message: We are united in our common humanity and when faced with the enormity of this pandemic, we can choose hope. We can choose gratitude. We can choose to envision a more collaborative and human-centric approach.

We represent a global community of 26 million professionals. That’s 26 million hearts and minds dedicated to our collective power and responsibility to impact our communities.

When it is safe to meet again, our industry will be ready. We will help drive the world’s economic recovery and we will be the light. Grounded in our values, we are committed to considering the opportunities that are in front of us, seeking ways to reimagine our future, and being part of the solutions that face our world.

Thanks again for making GMID20 such a success. We very much look forward to the joyous day when we meet face to face again."
