Google and Hamburg Tourism expand training programme for digital issues

The #wirfuerdich (#weforyou) provides inspiration, ideas for solutions and networks for today’s digital issues. Collaboration to continue into 2019.

Following two successful project stages with a total of 16 workshops and around 400 participants, Google and Hamburg Tourism GmbH (HHT) have decided to continue the #wirfuerdich training programme into 2019. HHT made the announcement at the end of November. From January the programme will once again offer training modules free of charge. Themes like data and web analysis, agile business development, Design Thinking and developing a digital strategy place particular emphasis on the use of digital channels for boosting customer relations. The programme is set to be continued until 2020.

Major Opportunity for Hamburg
“We aim by means of the training programme to reduce thresholds and develop an open attitude towards the digital issues of our day. Digitalization cannot be shaped without the appropriate attitude. Not only technology is important in this regard, but also the human factor. Digitalization helps us to better understand these needs and to create unusual experiences from it, as well as achieve economic success,” Hamburg Tourism GmbH chief executive Michael Otremba says.

Digital Training
The programme’s contents are closely adapted to the needs of the market through sector surveys, Otremba says. Seven more training modules will be offered by March, with the aim of strengthening links within the sector and providing adequate opportunity for implementing the theme of digital change. The collaboration was initiated by Google and HHT and in cooperation with DEHOGA Hamburg, the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and the Hamburg Tourism Association.
