Hipmunk iOS Update gives travelers everything they need to plan for upcoming trips

New TripIt and Apple Calendar integrations show users gaps in their travel plans.

SAN FRANCISCO – Hipmunk released another agony-reducing feature to its iOS app: the ability to see upcoming trips, meetings, and events so that travelers never forget to book a flight or accommodation again.

A traveler can now connect their TripIt account and Apple Calendar with their Hipmunk iOS app, giving users a holistic view of their schedule before they search. The update also includes a new, streamlined user interface that makes it easy to locate any missing travel plans.

"It's a hassle to switch between multiple apps," said Adam Goldstein, Hipmunk co-founder and CEO. "This newest update gives Hipmunk users a centralized view of their travel plans, so travelers can easily find whatever they need to finish booking their trip."

The updated Hipmunk iOS app doesn't just show users their upcoming travel plans – it also cross-references those plans with what they have already booked. If Hipmunk notices that a traveler is missing a hotel or flight, a one-click search option shows the user what's available for that specific trip.

To support this additional information, Hipmunk also revamped the iOS app's home screen based on what travelers care about most. The new home screen now includes:

  • An "Upcoming Trips" section that makes it easy for users to quickly see what travel they have coming up and book anything they might still need.
  • A new "Book it Again" section that shows travelers the hotels they visit the most, allowing them to quickly rebook their favorites.
  • A "Fare Alerts" section that helps travelers keep tabs on any fluctuations to flight or hotel prices.

Dedicated "Saved Options" and "Recent Searches" sections that allow users to quickly jump back into saved flight itineraries and hotel properties or recent searches.
