CALGARY, ALBERTA – As part of a multi-year Domestic Terminal refresh announced by YYC Calgary International Airport, global restaurateur HMSHost has opened The Burger Federation between Concourse A and B near gate A24 in the airport. Additional dining developments from HMSHost include new restaurant ventures with the Calgary Flames NHL hockey team and celebrated local brewery and distillery The Last Best Brewing & Distilling.

“Providing Calgary travellers with a memorable dining experience each time they visit the airport is our first priority. Flames Grill, Last Best Brewing & Distilling, and The Burger Federation represent just the right mix of favorite regional flavours, local culture, and on-trend brands to inspire excitement about eating in the airport,” said HMSHost Vice President of Business Development Kent Vanden Oever.

“These new and refreshed global and local brands reinforce both HMSHost and YYC Calgary International Airport are focused on improving the guest experience moving through our airport. Congratulations on the opening of The Burger Federation,” says Rob Palmer, CFO and Vice President, Finance, The Calgary Airport Authority.

New YYC dining from HMSHost:

  • With recipes from all over the world and 100% Alberta Angus Beef, Burger Federation offers a unique international experience by serving burgers genuinely made from the world’s most famous flavors. Burger Federation is an international concept born from Autogrill in Rome, Italy that has evolved and expanded into North American airports in collaboration with HMSHost. Burger Federation not only offers YYC travellers gourmet burgers, salads, appetizers and sides but provides a sense of belonging to all guests with the mantra Stand Together, Burger Lovers!
  • After nearly 40 years of electrifying Alberta hockey fans in Calgary, the Calgary Flames are skating into YYC with the Flames Grill, a new restaurant that honors the NHL team and its local legacy. Not just a sports bar though, the Calgary Flames Grill at YYC is a full-service venue in the airport featuring culinary delights from HMSHost that may be game day-inspired but have been carefully crafted to create a totally unique and modern menu to excite the tastes of all travellers.
  • Last Best Brewing & Distilling is taking its role as the foremost liaison between beer and beer culture in the local community to a whole new audience with a location in YYC Airport. Travellers from all over the world can experience Last Best’s spirit and unwavering commitment to making delicious well-crafted beer in an elegant, yet comfortable taproom reminiscent of the location in town. Bold Alberta-inspired cuisine makes this new airport craft brewing outlet a seriously elevated experience.

Burger Federation is now open for travellers to enjoy, to be followed by the opening of Calgary Flames Grill this fall and Last Best Brewing & Distilling in 2020. HMSHost will also renovate Starbucks® Coffee and Tim Hortons stores on Concourses A and C during the airport refresh timeframe.
