Hungarian Passport joins the most powerful in Europe

As one of the oldest countries in Europe, Hungary boasts a rich cultural heritage which bridges the gap between its European charm and historical Soviet influence.

MONTREAL – Hungary joins the list of Europe's most powerful ranking passports with a visa-free score of 163 – ahead of Cyprus, Malta and Bulgaria.

Since January 2018, things have proven to be impressively optimistic for the Hungarian passport, as it secures visa waivers from Angola, Australia, Azerbaijan, Benin, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Myanmar, Rwanda, Uzbekistan, and Viet Nam. With visa-free access to 163 countries, as per The Passport Index, Hungary joins the world's fourth most powerful ranking passports, alongside Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Belgium and Austria.

Empowered by Canadian financial advisory, Arton Capital, The Passport Index monitors the effectiveness of the world's passports in real-time. "It's a great positive development for all current and future Hungarian citizens in terms of improved mobility and global freedom," said Armand Arton, founder and president of Arton Capital.

As one of the oldest countries in Europe, Hungary boasts a rich cultural heritage which bridges the gap between its European charm and historical Soviet influence. Long-known as the first communist-bloc country to open its borders with Western Europe, Hungary is now admired by many around the globe for its unique farmer markets, countless thermal springs, and exquisite shopping and dining experiences. With nearly 10 million inhabitants, this ancient nation has finally redeemed its place on the map as an exceptional place to live, and a unique destination to visit.
