ICCA discusses aviation industry recovery with leading global airline alliances

For the past few weeks, airlines have gone through different phases of impact due to COVID-19: from planes flying empty, to not flying at all, and now during the next few weeks flights are slowly returning.

As part of its “ICCA Global Conversations” series, ICCA is organising an open online session with its airline members to discuss the most important issues for reopening the global meetings industry, titled: “ICCA Global Conversations: Future of Aviation and Air Travel – Safety and Customer Confidence”.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the aviation industry due to travel restrictions and the lack of demand among travellers. 

For the past few weeks, airlines have gone through different phases of impact due to COVID-19: from planes flying empty, to not flying at all, and now during the next few weeks flights are slowly returning.

What will the future look like for airlines? How will this affect travellers and how will this impact the meetings industry, which has been intertwined with the aviation industry for many years? 

ICCA will be leading an discussion, addressing these matters in its first ever- global webinar on the aviation industry.

ICCA CEO Senthil Gopinath said: “The aviation industry plays an initial crucial role in the reopening of the global meetings industry. As ICCA we are in the unique position that we have all the leading global airlines included in our membership, allowing us to create a platform to discuss joint challenges and solutions, which is vital in the current times of stepping on uncharted territories, to encourage the process of reopening for international face-to-face meetings.”

Pierre Charbonneau
Director of Passenger Experience & Facilitation, International Air Transportation Association (IATA)
Pierre Charbonneau is responsible for setting standards to improve the end to end passenger experience in collaboration with industry key partners such as: airports, governments and strategic partners.

Stephen Aulds
Director of Safety, Security and Quality, SkyTeam Airline Alliance
Stephen Aulds is responsible for the strategic focus on alliance safety and security and supports 19 member airlines through a collaborative platform that brings together leaders in flight and ground safety, aviation security, emergency response, and quality oversight.

Edward Hollo
Director of Sales, SkyTeam Airline Alliance, ICCA Board Member and ICCA Transport Sector Chairperson
Edward Hollo is participating in the strategic leadership of the association and represent the interests of transport members of the association.
