Italian Exhibition Group: TTG for the growth of the tourism business

At Rimini expo centre, TTG Travel Experience, SIA Hospitality Design and SUN Beach&Outdoor Style close under the banner of optimism and renewed commitment.

RIMINI – The three exhibitions that Italian Exhibition Group SpA (IEG) dedicated to the tourism industry closed under the banner of business: the 55th TTG Travel Experience, 67th SIA Hospitality Design and 36th SUN Beach&Outdoor Style.

An authoritative positive opinion comes from Italy’s Minister of Tourism Gian Marco Centinaio, at Rimini expo centre for two days talking to all the market’s key players and leaders:

"I am very pleased, it went very well, this is an expo that works. Numerous meeting events, numerous trade members who see that the sector is picking up, numerous foreign visitors, and this seems a very positive thing to me."

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, on Wednesday 10th, as well as Minister Centinaio, participants included the President of the Emilia Romagna Region Stefano Bonaccini, Rimini’s Mayor Andrea Gnassi and IEG President Lorenzo Cagnoni.

The extremely satisfactory result for Italian Exhibition Group confirms the success of recent year in which its expos dedicated to the tourist trade achieved undisputed leadership. There was the important participation of the expected 1,500 buyers from 90 countries, very interested in the products and services on show at the expo centre, which was entirely occupied and enriched by 150 destinations represented.

In an atmosphere of proactive networking, the tourism industry asked the Institutions for a more central role in Italy’s development policies; at the same time, all the sector’s leaders found business opportunities at Rimini expo centre and a total of 384 events at which to obtain indications and information on the evolution of the demand of the Italian and international markets.

The contents made even more authoritative by the participation of the top national players of the tourist trade and leading enterprises, with a growing percentage of foreign visitors and new destinations that this year also joined those who choose the IEG marketplace to showcase their proposals. Mexico was the Partner Country at TTG Travel Experience, which also hosted the debut of Nepal, Kazakhstan, Andorra e Principality of Monaco, while the Italian territorial offer was out in full force and no less than 59 airlines were represented. The expos also hosted the entire world of services, hotel supplies and outdoor furniture.

So, all the proposals met with great success, with SIA Hospitality Design highlighting Italian-made hospitality at the only expo completely dedicated to the hotel trade; and SUN Beach&Outdoor Style with further confirmation of a fast-growing sector.

The decision to hold this edition of the expos mid-week also met with the full approval of both exhibitors and visitors, contributing to the success of the three exhibitions.

TTG, SIA and SUN address a business sector that is growing worldwide, including in Italy, where it is estimated that 2018 will have a rise of 1.3% in nights’ stay, 2.7% in arrivals and 3.7% in foreign tourists. There will also be an improvement in tourism's trade balance, which in 2017 had a positive net result of 14,598 million euros (5.7% more than 2016), with foreign tourists spending 39 billion euros in Italy.

But it is a market that changes rapidly: at Rimini expo centre it was announced that the digital tourism market in Italy has managed to win a fourth of the overall travel market’s value and has a value of 14.2 billion euros (8% more than 2017).

Changes that show the appearance of new forms of vacation: at Rimini expo centre the Outdoor Tourism Observatory estimated in the value of the outdoor tourism sector in Italy at 4.9 billion euros, with a 1.3% increase forecast for 2019.

There is also a positive trend in investment in the hotel sector in Italy: the value of hospitality facility transactions reached around 1.2 billion euros in 2017 (an increase of 10.5% on 2016).

The appointment is therefore already set for October 2019 for the next edition of TTG Travel Experience, SIA Hospitality Design and SUN Beach&Outdoor Style.
