JSF and IESE successfully launch the first international Senior Executive Program for the Travel and Tourism Industry

Skift.com and Wyndham Hotels join a roundtable session to discuss opportunities and challenges facing travel and tourism today.

PALMA DE MALLORCA – JSF Travel & Tourism School launched its inaugural program in partnership with IESE in New York at the beginning of February. The Senior Executive Program (SEP) is specifically designed to further advance business leaders with the capabilities and mindsets required to set strategic direction and navigate through uncertainty.

This is a pioneering academic project which brings together worldwide leaders in the Travel and Tourism industry in strategic global hubs such as New York, Hong Kong and Majorca together with a team of business management experts.

"This is the first time we have been able to bring together leaders from across the industry and not just those that focus on one particular segment of the industry, it is a great achievement" said Jaime Fluxa, Chairman of JSF travel & tourism.

In New York, guest speakers included, Rafat Ali, CEO and Founder of Skift.com, as well as Paulo Pena, President and Managing Director for the Wyndham Hotel Group in Latin America and the Caribbean.

"I think it is extremely valuable for the program to have top business leaders from different regions and businesses within the travel and tourism industry to share first hand their experiences and vision with the attendees," said Philip Moscoso, IESE professor and Academic Director of SEP. Participants also explored the opportunities faced by the industry whilst broadly discussing their own challenges.

Upon completion of the program, participants gain a strengthened capacity to drive performance, deliver excellence in strategy and execution, as well as a shared commitment to sustaining competitive advantages leaving an overall positive impact on the travel and tourism industry.

The next module of the SEP is in Hong Kong at the beginning of April, the focus of this module is improving business performance. Peter Borer, Chief Operating Officer of Peninsula Hotel Group will be hosting an evening discussion and George Yeo, former foreign affairs minister of Singapore, will talk about leadership skills and his experiences in Asia. Frederik Demopoulos, CEO/Founder of Queens Road Capital; Joseph Wan, Partner at Cinven; and Stephen Wong, CEO of Asia Miles will also be joining the group to share their experiences of management, the market in Asia and future trends. The Senior Executive Program concludes in Mallorca in June.
