Pristine, preserved Caribbean island poised to be next luxury travel destination.

PORTSMOUTH, DOMINICA – The highly anticipated Cabrits Resort & Spa Kempinski Dominica, the island’s first beachfront five-star resort slated to open later this year, has named luxury hospitality veteran, Elizabeth Maisonet as director of global group sales. She joins top property management executives Michael J. Schoonewagen, general manager and Tracey Fentem, director of sales and marketing, two of the industry’s most recognized resort operations and sales executives bringing experience from top hotels across the globe. Maisonet’s role will be to assist industry specialists in the planning and execution of social, meeting and incentive group programs.

“Elizabeth’s expertise is an invaluable asset in introducing travel agents and planners to the resort, and to this adventurous destination, which is new to many,” says Michael J. Schoonewagen, general manager for Cabrits Resort & Spa Kempinski Dominica. “As a venue for meetings and events, the resort offers an experience unlike any other – from outdoor function space with the breathtaking backdrop of Cabrits National Park to unprecedented access to immersive off-site group excursions and beyond.”

Maisonet has more than 20 years of experience in hospitality and group sales working with renowned hoteliers throughout the country including Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, where she completed a 12-year tenure as director of global accounts for the brand. Most recently, Maisonet served as director of northeast accounts at Key Largo’ prestigious members-only, Ocean Reef Club. As director of group sales for Cabrits Resort & Spa Kempinski Dominica, she will oversee development of group offerings and manage relations with travel agents and meeting planners.

Cabrits Resort & Spa Kempinski Dominica will feature an array of function and event space including three meeting rooms, and a board room, along with pre-function space. Taking advantage of its natural surroundings, the property will also maximize the use of outdoor space including an amphitheater and function space such as its Beach Club Terrace, pool decks and private beach.
