Ker & Downey Africa expands to cater for the rebound in travel to Africa

Grand Africa Safaris, a subsidiary of the Ker & Downey Africa group, has been rebranded and further investment has been made in both the Cape Town and Arusha offices.

The Ker & Downey Africa group has expanded its footprint in key source markets around the world and is now ideally positioned to cater for the pent-up demand for travel to Africa.

Due to a robust growth and development strategy pursued throughout the pandemic, the luxury destination management company has been able to weather the storm and continue to drive business to Sub-Saharan Africa under the Ker & Downey Africa brand. Following two years of difficult trading conditions during the pandemic, the group is now experiencing a huge increase in booking activity from all source markets – much of this is for the 2022 calendar year, illustrating the high level of pent-up demand.

A number of strategic management appointments have been made to drive the company’s growth in key markets not previously covered. The group has B2B operations in North America, Latin America, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, China and Hong Kong source markets, and has extended further afield to Russia and Eastern Europe, France and Spanish-speaking markets.

“We contribute a large part of our success to our relentless focus on the luxury traveler and the expertise and experience of our management team. We would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to our valued clients across the globe for their ongoing support through what has undoubtedly been a trying time for us all,” says Jeffrey Squire, Chairman of the Ker & Downey Africa group.

The super-luxury destination management company services top boutique agencies and luxury tour operators and specializes in tailor-made travel to Southern Africa, East Africa and Indian Ocean island destinations such as Mauritius, Seychelles, Mozambique and Madagascar.
