Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs joins Kind Traveler

Travelers rewarded with exclusive rates & perks by donating to Friends of the Desert Mountains.

PALM SPRINGS, CALIF. – Kimpton The Rowan Palm Springs joins Kind Traveler, the first socially conscious Give + Get hotel booking platform that empowers travelers to positively impact the communities they visit. Travelers unlock special rates & perks with curated Kind Hotels upon a $10 donation to a local charity that benefits the community visited, or to a charity of choice on Kind Traveler. One hundred percent of the donation is given to charity, creating a triple win amongst the traveler, charity and hotel.

Furthering its commitment to social and environmental responsibility, Kimpton The Rowan Palm Springs is collaborating with Friends of the Desert Mountains to help preserve the unique wildlife, critical natural resources, and scenic beauty of the Coachella Valley and Desert Mountains. The nonprofit organization currently manages and monitors over 17,000 acres of conservation land. Additionally, it runs programs for trail stewardship, invasive weed control, youth education, interpretive hikes, and community science.

A $10 donation to Friends of the Desert Mountains will:

  • Provide one East Coachella Valley youth with supplies for outdoor STEAM education (science, technology, engineering, the arts and math)
  • Allow for two people of any ability to enjoy a safe, guided desert walk
  • Buy one can of paint to “reverse artwork” cover unwanted graffiti in the canyons
  • Provide drinking water for invasive species removal volunteers
  • Help supply two months of food for the organization’s outreach ambassador, Robbie the Desert Rosy Boa

“We are proud to do our part to care for our planet and reduce our carbon footprint, as well as that for each and every guest,” said Kimpton The Rowan Palm Springs General Manager Peggy Trott. “Our partnership with Kind Traveler and Friends of the Desert Mountains aims to make it easy for travelers to make conscientious, sustainable travel decisions that help protect our precious desert for current and future generations.”

Nearly 70 percent of travelers polled in Booking’s 2021 Sustainable Travel Study want to know their travel dollars are benefitting the communities they visit.

In terms of the hotel profile, Kind Traveler highlights each property in a meaningful way by connecting the traveler with the local community impact opportunity and ‘Kind Factors’ – the term used to describe how the hotel is advancing individual wellness, sustainability, and community impact. This unique way of telling the hotel’s story reinforces a commitment to social responsibility, at a time when transparency is expected from today’s travelers and consumers.

Some of Kimpton The Rowan Palm Springs’ notable Kind Factors include a partnership with Clean the World to recycle unused portions of bar soaps, onsite EV charging stations, a recycling and composting program, energy-saving lighting, large-format refillable bath amenities, guest rooms equipped with motion-activated smart air units, complimentary in-room yoga mats, and water refilling stations. Since April 2015, all Kimpton hotels have been a part of the TripAdvisor GreenLeadersTM program.

“Our win-win platform offers opportunities for meaningful community impact for everyone involved,” said Kind Traveler CEO & Co-Founder Jessica Blotter. “For travelers, they fulfill a desire to give back and create a more purpose-driven travel experience – while supporting hotels and charities that are making a positive impact in the world. For hotels, they cultivate new relationships with conscious, responsible travelers and take another step toward creating a more sustainable and regenerative travel experience. Charities receive 100% of donations and a new, sustainable channel for fundraising.”
