La Manga Club ignites resurgence with golf opening

The tourist, leisure and sports complex located in southern Spain and considered one of the best resorts in the Mediterranean, has reopened one of its three 18-hole golf courses.

La Manga Club, one of the largest resorts in southern Europe, gradually returns to some kind of normality with the reopening of part of its extensive golf offer. The resort, owned by Grupo Inversor Hesperia, reopened on May 16th, the North Course, one of its three 18-hole championship golf courses. The reopening of the facility has been carried out under the strictest security measures and protocols, following all the indications established by the governing health authorities and by the Royal Spanish Golf Federation to guarantee everyone's safety.

Complying with the 30% capacity rule by the Spanish Government, a maximum of 120 players per day may play on the North Course, starting from Tees 1 and 10. Players also need to adhere to the recently implemented new rules and guidelines in order to optimise everyone's safety and for the proper use of La Manga Club sports facilities during Covid-19.

Given the global situation generated by Covid-19, La Manga Club, like the rest of the country's hotels and resorts, was forced to close its facilities last March. During the period of confinement, a skeleton team has been working intensively to ensure the perfect maintenance of the facilities and to ensure that the courses continue to be in optimum condition. Something that clients have already been able to experience and enjoy.

After a successful re-opening, the resort's general manager, Nick Montgomery, states that “people were looking forward to enjoying their favourite sport outdoors, in an idyllic and safe environment such as La Manga Club. I have never seen such happy golfers. We emphasize that all players and employees take on full responsibility for all of the newly implemented rules during Covid-19.”
