Lufthansa Group signs multi-year deal with Routehappy to create and distribute rich content

Partnership will see Routehappy manage rich content for Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, and SWISS.

NEW YORK – Routehappy, the industry standard for airline rich content, announced that Lufthansa Group has signed a multi-year subscription deal with Routehappy to create and distribute rich content for Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, and SWISS via Routehappy Hub. The partnership will also see Routehappy scope an integration with Lufthansa Group’s NDC API by matching targeted rich content to NDC offers, thereby making them even more compelling to shoppers and flyers.

The partnership will enable Lufthansa Group to distribute Routehappy’s targeted rich content standards – Universal Product Attributes (UPAs) – to multiple partners, in multiple languages. UPAs visually highlight in-flight features through descriptive text, photos, and videos, significantly improving the shopping experience for consumers by showcasing relevant product and fare offerings. The integration of rich content by Routehappy will help Lufthansa Group improve brand awareness, customer satisfaction and conversion, upsell and market share.

Johannes Walter, Head of Distribution Global Market Management at Lufthansa Group said: “Routehappy’s innovative ability to create, manage, and distribute rich content to partners means our customers will have a flight shopping experience that fully highlights Lufthansa Group’s premium in-flight experience. Additionally, our partnership will help to further enhance our NDC API and match Routehappy rich content to offers on our preferred distribution channels.”

“Our new partnership with Lufthansa Group will help them reveal hidden gems to flyers while shopping for flights. LHG has some of the best product innovations in the market, including live sports TV, fast Wi-Fi, and restaurant quality food,” said Jonathan Savitch, Chief Commercial Officer at Routehappy by ATPCO. “By combining the power of rich content with the reach of NDC, Lufthansa Group is leading the European market in transforming flight shopping.”

Rich content from Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, and SWISS will be live on both corporate and leisure distribution channels upon request to the Lufthansa Group.

Lufthansa Group in the UK and Ireland launches its new NDC Partner Programme and NDC Smart  Offer
The newly introduced website provides general information for customers seeking more details and wanting to ask questions regarding Lufthansa Group’s NDC API solution. The website is accessible to all and is beneficial for travel agencies, corporates and travel technology providers as they can now find detailed information on the website.

Travel agencies interested in using the free of charge NDC web solution SPRK, can now register to access the booking and servicing platform by simply filling out the online form available on the new website. Until the end of this year Lufthansa Group will be offering a special incentive of 1EUR per coupon for agents using the NDC API solution SPRK.

Furthermore, effective 24th May Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines and SWISS will be offering “NDC Smart Offer” in the UK and Ireland, exclusively available via its online and NDC channels. NDC Smart Offers comprise the Lufthansa Group Airlines most competitive fares and ancillaries. The new fares will feature a consistent price reduction of £17 roundtrip or £9 oneway per ticket for its European Light and Classic fares on point-to-point routes. This includes routes from London, Manchester and Dublin to Lufthansa Group’s hubs in Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna and Zurich.

“The Lufthansa Group continuously aims to serve our local agencies with the best possible solutions, and the newly launched NDC Partner Programme and website will be of great support. We already have a number of agencies who are capable to receive our NDC Smart Offers, such as our new most competitive fares, and we expect more partners to follow in the near future. But also agencies who are not in the position yet to receive these offers via their API can also have access via SPRK“ stated Andreas Koester, Senior Director Sales, UK, Ireland and Iceland, Lufthansa Group.

Lufthansa increases sleeping comfort in Business Class
From now on, Lufthansa Business Class passengers on long-haul flights to and from South Africa, Latin and South America and the West Coast of the USA can enjoy an even more relaxed night's sleep. The Lufthansa Dream Collection makes it possible. In addition to a new pillowcase and a large, warm blanket, a comfortable mattress topper makes for beautiful dreams. In addition, our pas-sengers can make themselves comfortable on night flights with the new sleep shirt from Van Laack.

The soft and padded mattress topper was developed especially for Lufthansa in cooperation with the renowned German bed manufacturer "Paradies". While the upper side is made of 100 percent cotton, the underside is made of non-slip terry cloth. This enables an ideal air exchange, which prevents strong heat ac-cumulation. A similarly soft filling is provided by the new blanket and pillow, which provide pleasant warmth and comfort. Both the blanket and the pillow-case are designed in Lufthansa's new brand design. Since Lufthansa is also set-ting standards in terms of environmental friendliness, the plastic packaging of the blanket was replaced by a paper band.

The increase in sleeping comfort in Business Class is symbolic of Lufthansa's premium standard. Last December, the airline was the first western airline to receive the five-star seal from Skytrax, the British management consultancy specialized in aviation.

The Dream Collection will be successively introduced on all other long-haul flights. From June the Dream Collection from Germany will also be available on selected Asian flights. The other long-haul flights will receive the new blankets and pillowcases from autumn 2018.
