Magnuson Hotels join HRS Portfolio, expanding sales opportunities to a larger audience of business travellers

HRS, which works directly with more than 40,000 corporate travel programmes worldwide, including 3,000+ multi-national firms, provides Magnuson with a new avenue to increase bookings via the lucrative business travel sector.

HRS, a leading hotel content provider with more than five million rooms in global distribution systems, has added Magnuson Hotels’ 1,000+ properties to its inventory.

Magnuson Hotels is the world’s largest independent hotel group, with its hotel locations spread across six countries and three continents.

HRS, which works directly with more than 40,000 corporate travel programmes worldwide, including 3,000+ multi-national firms, provides Magnuson with a new avenue to increase bookings via the lucrative business travel sector. In North America alone, where Magnuson has more than 800 properties, HRS tripled the number of corporate accounts it works with in 2016, with those companies cumulatively representing more than $800 million in annual lodging spend.

HRS and Magnuson are both exhibiting at ITB Berlin, a leading international travel trade show, on March 8 through 12. The companies each have stands in Hall #9.

Founded in 2003, Magnuson’s model of independent ownership under one global brand has made it the fastest growing brand in history. Magnuson has added more new hotels to its portfolio in the last decade than eight of the top ten chains combined. The chain has three distinct offerings to serve corporations, all competitively priced to fit procurement guidelines:

  • Magnuson Grand – Upscale level hotels & resorts
  • Magnuson Hotel – Mid-priced to upper scale hotels & resorts
  • M Star Hotel – Economy & upper economy hotels

“One of our primary goals for 2017 is to increase awareness of the Magnuson brand with the managed travel community, and the HRS relationship significantly helps with that objective,” said Thomas Magnuson, founder and CEO of Magnuson Hotels. “HRS has a long history of working with independent hotels and facilitating corporate bookings for them; their unique understanding of the business travel marketplace and access to corporate travel programmes will serve our owners well.”

HRS has more than 180,000 independent hotels in its global portfolio, and adds dozens of properties in every month to better serve business travellers.

“Magnuson Hotels’ commitment to independent hotel owners dovetails with our efforts to support independent hotels and small groups as they take steps to build awareness and increase bookings from business travellers,” said Andy Besent, Managing Director (UK & Ireland), HRS, “We’re pleased to add Magnuson’s quality locations to our portfolio and help them achieve their corporate sales goals."
