Major new venues and hotels in Hamburg showcased to visitors at IMEX in Frankfurt

Fontenay, Hamburg.

Reputation of Germany’s second city soars with series of international accolades.

A wide range of top hotels, new openings and new venues will be showcased to visitors at IMEX in Frankfurt this year showing why 2017 is a momentous year for Hamburg.

The launch of landmark venues and hotels in Germany’s second city has delivered a significant boost to its meeting and event offering. Visitors to IMEX in Frankfurt, which takes place 16 – 18 May, can discover many of these new openings at the Hamburg Convention Bureau stand (G100). This includes the 5 star Fontenay, offering breath-taking views of the city’s famous Alster Lake. Located in its own private park in the city, the hotel’s conference facilities are across four rooms equipped with the latest in audio and visual technology.

The team behind the Congress Center Hamburg (CCH) will join HCB to share the scope of this revitalised venue. Using virtual reality headsets, visitors can step inside the CCH, which is set to become one Europe's largest convention centres when it opens in 2019. With a 12,000 sqm exhibition area and 12,000 seats in up to 50 halls, it will also be the largest of its kind in Germany. The redesigned centre will be able to accommodate several concurrent events and the entrance hall, rising as tall as the main building, provides an additional multi-purpose space.

Other venues visitors can discover include AMERON Hotel Speicherstadt, located in the the largest warehouse district in the world and UNESCO World Heritage Site, Altantic Hotel Kempinski, Grand Elysée Hamburg, Marriott Hotel Hamburg and Radisson BLU Dammtor.

Highlights of Hamburg’s exciting food and drink scene will be served alongside these major new venues. Visitors can enjoy local tea cocktails and the city’s speciality – curry sausage and beer – from a pop up ‘Heiße Ecke’ bar, a popular venue in the city’s famous Reeperbahn district. Healthy options include ‘heart apples’ from the Altes Land, Europe’s largest fruit growing region.

Florian Gerdes, Marketing Manager Conventions at Hamburg Convention Bureau, sums up:
“From major 5 and 4 star names through to quirky boutique hotels, there’s a huge choice of top notch accommodation and meeting spaces launching in key locations throughout the city including near the airport, Congress Center Hamburg and the iconic River Elbe.

“The opening of our iconic Elbphilharmonie concert hall in January marked the beginning of a momentous year for the city and our reputation has spread far and wide. Over the past few months alone Hamburg has been named one of the ‘most beautiful cities in the world’, one of the ‘most friendliest’ and one of the ‘places to go in 2017’ by major global media outlets.

“We’re inviting visitors to IMEX in Frankfurt this year to visit us and discover why.”
