Maryland tourism has almost fully recovered after three years

There are plenty of things to do in Maryland, even if you’re not interested in sports.

It’s no wonder the tourism industry was affected as a whole thanks to the global pandemic that started all the way back in 2020, Maryland wasn’t an exception in this case. However, after almost three years, things seem to be getting back to normal as people have taken more measures and precautions to bring back traveling into their daily routines. According to the Maryland Department of Commerce, it was reported that visitor spending grew by $4.8 billion in 2021, reaching almost $16.4 billion. This number is expected to only increase a bit more in the next two years.

 Attractions to visit and things to do in Maryland
As one of the 13 original colonies, Maryland is rich in history and culture. From its colonial roots in Annapolis to the modern metropolis of Baltimore, there is much to see and do in Maryland. Baltimore, Maryland's largest city, is a vibrant and cosmopolitan metropolis. The Inner Harbor area is a must-see, with its many museums, shops, and restaurants.

Annapolis, the state capital, is home to the United States Naval Academy. Founded in 1845, the academy is a prestigious military college that trains young men and women for careers in the Navy and Marine Corps. Annapolis is also home to many historical landmarks, such as the Maryland State House, which is the oldest state capitol building in continuous use.

Maryland is famous for its crabs, and there are many ways to enjoy them, from picking your own crabmeat to going on a charter boat for a day of crabbing. You can enjoy some local wine at one of Maryland's many wineries. Lastly, for those who are looking for a more active vacation, Maryland's Deep Creek Lake is a great option. The lake offers a variety of water sports and activities as well as hiking and biking trails.
