Matka Nordic Travel Fair 2022 theme – Licence to Travel

The largest travel event in Northern Europe Matka Nordic Travel Fair is organised after a two-year-break.

Matka Nordic Travel Fair says it out loud: now it is allowed to travel. Travel dreams can finally be realized, and it is equally permissible to welcome foreign tourists and business travellers to Finland again. Matka Nordic Travel Fair will be organized at Messukeskus Helsinki, Expo and Convention Centre on 20-23 January 2022.

The largest travel event in Northern Europe Matka Nordic Travel Fair is organised after a two-year-break. The exceptional period has profoundly shaken travel opportunities of both holidaymakers and travellers as well as the business of tourism companies. Now Matka Nordic Travel Fair declares the start of a new tourism era.

The theme of Matka Nordic Travel Fair 2022 encourages you to look forward.  Licence to travel implies both a sense of freedom and actions. After a long break in travelling, it is finally allowed to get excited and dream about travelling and make plans come true. The world is open once again and Matka Fair is ready to present the full range of travel opportunities,” says Lumia Ankkuri, Business Manager responsible for Matka Nordic Travel Fair.

The theme can be seen on the stands, in the programme, the performer selections and the visualisation

At Matka Nordic Travel Fair one can find the trip you want, whether one dreams of a city destination or a beach holiday in the direction of Kuopio or Kathmandu. Alongside the standard favourites in Finland and Europe, long-haul destinations and new countries will be introduced. Choices on all continents are presented. Seven different programme stages present a tasty selection of travel stories, but they also offer solid facts. Information and clear instructions are now needed to support travelling. In the waves of travel planning, it is good to update information about what has changed in travelling and how to prepare for the trip after the exemption period. The fair provides information on necessary travel documents, safety, insurance coverage, as well as permits and rules for different countries and destinations.

Hundreds of stands at the Matka Nordic Travel Fair contribute to the theme. There will be competitions, destination tips and travel offers. The Licence to Travel theme is also viewed from the responsibility perspective: whose promises can be trusted, so that one’s own travel is sustainable and does not burden the environment or local cultures.

The preparations of the themed programme can be followed on Matka Nordic Travel Fair social media channels with the hashtags #lupamatkustaa and #licencetotravel.

Greece shines as partner country at the Matka Nordic Travel Fair

Greece, a long-time favourite destination for Finns, will continue as partner country for Matka Nordic Travel Fair. Stunning nature and unique attractions from ancient treasures to monasteries and fishing villages to stunning island destinations are presented in the program and on the stands of Greek tour operators. Additionally, Greece is introducing new types of activities as well as its responsibility issues.

In addition to program and attractions for the general public, Matka Nordic Travel Fair is also the largest professional event in the travel industry in Northern Europe. The travel industry sees the Matka Nordic Travel Fair as a gateway to a new liftoff for the entire industry. This time, the program for professionals is more comprehensive than ever before. The previous Matka Nordic Travel Fair in January 2020 ended with a visitor record. At that time, more than 68,000 people visited the fair.

The largest travel event in Northern Europe Matka Nordic Travel Fair will next time be organised on 20-23 January 2022 at Messukeskus in Helsinki. The international travel purchase event Matka Workshop Day opens the Matka Nordic Travel Fair on 19 January 2022. The Global Travel Summit will be held in connection with the Matka Nordic Travel Fair on 21 January 2022. The Helsinki Caravan Fair will be held simultaneously on 21-23 January 2022.
