Award-winning British airline and leading UK-based lender pen five year partnership extension.

CHESTER, ENGLAND - Virgin Atlantic and MBNA have signed a new five year UK credit card partnership and have enhanced their leading Virgin Atlantic Black Credit Card Account for eligible new customers.

The signing of a new bilateral agreement takes the successful partnership between the two British-based firms to the end of 2018.

"We've had a strong and successful partnership with Virgin Atlantic since 2006, so we're absolutely delighted to be continuing this relationship into 2018," said Michael Donald, Marketing and Commercial executive for MBNA. "This is a great example of a 21st century win-win commercial deal, harnessing the power of four great brands - Virgin Atlantic, MBNA, American Express and Visa. Virgin Atlantic has a worldwide reputation for service excellence, which is an ethos shared by MBNA, and we want to support that as we continue to develop new products, and enhance our existing range of services with the Virgin Atlantic brand."

"When considering the right partner for the UK credit card programme, MBNA was the obvious choice, as it is the UK's recognised leader in doing so," Alan Lias, head of Loyalty and Ancillary Revenue Development at Virgin Atlantic, added. "Together, we have an excellent track record of delivering great products for our customers, and we want that to continue for many years to come. Throughout the next five years, we have a shared commitment to deliver new and exciting products and services that continue to fly in the face of ordinary!"
