Design Plus BEX Hotel in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

Design Plus, A Hotel Collection by Meeting Point Hotel Management was unveiled during FITUR 2018 in Madrid. Particular hotels with emphasis on unique interiors and themes will operate under its umbrella. Design Plus BEX Hotel in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is the first to join the collection.

MADRID / MUNICH – FTI Group introduces its second international hotel brand, Design Plus, a Collection Hotel by Meeting Point Hotel Management during FITUR, the international tourism trade fair held annually in Madrid. The properties of the new brand are distinguished by design, exclusive restaurants, and special locations, urban, combining city and beach.

“I am delighted to announce the launch of our new and modern hotel concept, Design Plus. With this hotel collection, we are targeting guests that appreciate state of the art design, exclusive culinary treats, excellent service as well as a combination of city & beach feeling”, explained Roula Jouny Group Managing Director of Meeting Point International and FTI Group. “After the success of LABRANDA Hotels & Resorts, the first hotel chain introduced by Meeting Point Hotel Management in September 2015 that currently holds more than 50 hotels in its portfolio across eight countries, we are excited to see the development of our new brand” added Ms. Jouny.

Hotels joining Design Plus will include upper end restaurants and bars which spoil guests with local and international cuisines and signature drinks. The interior concept consists, for example, of exclusive Malaika linen. The bedding manufactured in Egypt stands out for its high quality and organic material. The production also empowers women in regional areas of Egypt by giving them the chance to learn a valuable skill and improve their economic standing.

The award-winning, Design Plus BEX Hotel, based in the heart of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, is set to open in February 2018 as the flagship of the newly established brand. Prior to opening, Design Plus Bex Hotel won a prestigious award for being one of the "Best Projects for Hotel Sustainability and Rehabilitation in Spain" during the annual Re Think Hotel ceremony held yesterday. The hotel was recognized for several factors that include reserving the elements of the bank’s traditional aesthetics such as security camera doors and old safes. Moreover, Design Plus Bex Hotel is built to save 70% on energy supplies due to its energy efficiency measures by modifying the air conditioning system, through the implementation of an aerometry system based on the extraction of energy from the outside air by means of a high efficiency heat pump.

Ideally located in the heart of the capital, the former bank building has a fancy architecture with reminiscences of Bauhaus. The interior is characterised by art deco to Retro elements and contemporary design. The history of the building is displayed through old lockers, stylish piles of coins and historic vaults. Offering 91 stylish rooms the hotel provides a high-class restaurant, a spacious rooftop bar and direct beach access to Las Canteras.

Design Plus Hotels will further grow with a second hotel on the Turkish Aegean coast. The former LABRANDA Alacati Princess will open its doors for guests in summer 2018 as a Design Plus hotel after undergoing a complete renovation. With direct beach access, the hotel is located around three kilometers from Alacati at the Cesme peninsular. Nestled between soft hills and the Aegean Sea one can find carefully renovated houses with stone facades in the narrow alleys of the protected old town.
