Nevada closes bars again, casinos to follow?

Nevada has recently announced that it would be scaling back the businesses that could remain open and has asked for all public bars to close their doors for the second time.

The US as a whole is still battling the impact of the coronavirus as cases across the country continue to rise, and in the latest blow to having services run as normal across the country, Nevada has recently announced that it would be scaling back the businesses that could remain open and has asked for all public bars to close their doors for the second time.

It had been somewhat expected that this would happen – almost two weeks to the day after Nevada had reopened for business as usual cases began to spike, and for the weeks following the state would see the highest day on day increase in positive cases which needed an answer – this answer was to close the bars in the state, but something that was a surprise to many is that casinos were not included in this mandate. As soon as the casinos had reopened, video footage had started to emerge showing the packed atriums as video walkarounds were shown, with many guests not wearing any masks and the measures put in place to help social distance guests were largely being ignored which has in part been attributed to the increase that has been seen – since then it was made mandatory for all guests to wear masks but the current social climate within the US hasn’t been too friendly in this regard as many are still shown to be ignoring the rules.

Fortunately for many punters there are a growing number of alternatives available to players – despite recent regulation changes through initiatives such as Gamstop which is aimed at making it more difficult for some players to participate alongside other changes such as a recent credit card ban on gambling, there are a growing number of services that aren’t registered, Max Casinos review them and show some of the more reliable sites to use for players whilst the pandemic continues and closures begin to roll out again.

It had been suggested that most, if not all of the visitors were domestic coming from either in state or bordering states as international travel to the US is still largely suspended, but it has led to many also updating their travel guidance for the US for caution as numbers continue to grow. It had also previously been suggested that Vegas relied on almost half of all visitors coming from international travel and would still largely rely on that traffic for sustainable growth that may not come again for quite some time. It is expected that the next step will be to close the casinos following the recent bar closure if numbers continue to grow, but that isn’t a certainty just yet – with the number of visitors increasing and the staffing requirements much larger however it does beg the question as to why bars were closed before casinos, but otherwise it has been suggested to limit travel where possible and use online alternatives to stay as safe as possible, especially during these uncertain times.
