New campervan marketplace named Travel Innovator of the Year

Indie Campers 360° approach to the campervan industry awarded by the experts.

An innovative campervan marketplace on which owners can rent out their motorhomes and campervans when not in use was considered by Phocuswright panel of experts as the major breakout for 2021 in the travel industry.

With its technological approach, Indie Campers allows owners to rent out their own vans safely through their platform to interested parties. Addressing all client needs in a one-stop shop by integrating both third-party, their own-operated fleet and also their infrastructure, this startup that is already present in 15 European countries is enabling its users the possibility to have the best service and best price.

“To be named as EMEA Travel Innovator of the Year by Phocuswright, the leading authority in travel, tourism and hospitality market research, is a great honour and an important recognition of our unique business model –  a seamless digital marketplace to rent, buy and rent out campervans, in an easy and affordable way”, states Indie Campers CEO, Hugo Oliveira.

The company has utilized the campervan boom in the last year in a fragmented industry and apart from the rental model, the company has also launched the possibility to buy a campervan if the experience is to their users’ liking.

To meet customer demand in an industry that lacks supply, while also addressing contrasting client needs, Indie Campers is now focusing on attracting private owners to be part of its integrated solution.

“As campervan supply is low in markets like the UK, we are now incentivizing campervan owners to list their campervans on our platform and receive 0% commission for the first 100 days”, comments Hugo. “By doing so, owners can make their vehicles a new source of income when they are not in use and we can meet the new increasing demands”.

Indie Campers serves over 40 locations in Europe and opened its 3rd UK location in Manchester earlier this year. In the next year, the company aims to have their new marketplace make campervan experiences more accessible across Europe, before scaling it into other continents.
